Burn Mp3 Cds For Newer Gm Sterio

Oops, sorry bout the misspelling in the title...would not let me fix.

 

I have an 08 GMC Sierra with the factory CD player. I have been playing around with burning MP3 CDs and so far the results have been pretty good. The big problem I have is when using Windows Media Player 11 to burn an MP3 CD, if you try to bring the quality (bitrate) down a bit to fit more on a CD, it converts the MP3 to WMA.

 

I am looking for an application that will read my playlists and burn the files to a CD as MP3s using the quality (bitrate) I choose without converting them to a different file format. What do you use/suggest?

for burning CD's i usually use nero. i didnt pay for it but uh, i borrowed it

 

i dont burn many CD's though i just use the AUX jack and plug my ipod in.

I have tried the MP3 player approach via the aux jack, but do not like using the controls on the MP3 player. I quite like using the stereo controls with an MP3 CD.

 

Do you know if Nero will re-encode to a lower bitrate?

I have several cd's with tons of music. I usually just open the cd drive with a bank cd in the tray, and drag the mp3 files that I want to add to the cd and "drop" them into the blank cd folder. This will send the mp3 files as data instead of audio files. With WMP, you are esentially having it convert the files to be a playable cd on regular cd players. I hope this helps.

If you go into the burn section in WMP 11, you can burn a data CD as well. The main advantage over the way you describe is the ability to change the bitrate in order to fit more on the disk. Most of my MP3s are around 190kbps and need to be brought down to at least 128kbps. The problem though is that when WMP changes the bitrate, it also changes the file from MP3 to the windows media format (WMA?) which the GM stereos do not read. I am looking for the exact same functionality with the exception of winding up with a CD full of MP3 files vs. WMA files.

you could always get an iSimple pxamg which allows you to conenct your ipod to the stereo and it will show your songs and everything on the stereo. even lets you control it with the stereo and with the steering wheel controls. pretty handy in my opinion.

My aux jack doesn't play nearly as loud as the cd so I burn cd mp3s. I only wish I could use a dvd mp3 but I've tried and no luck.

Click the copy music tab, in copy settings change wma to mp3.

 

I'm looking at wmp 9 while writing this being that is all we have here at werk, but its essentially the same thing for the burning part I believe, in 11.

 

I usually use media monkey to do this, its fast, its fun, it even has the ability to update your tags via the web! But I am also a huge fan of wmp.

With the PXAMG you don't use your aux jack. It plugs into your wiring harness and then gives you two separate ports to plug in an ipod and a satellite radio for instance. Its what I use. There is a link to it in my sig.
