Fold A Cover G4 Questions

I am either going to get the Bakflip or the Fold a Cover, but am leaning towards the Fold a Cover at this point. I was wondering if the cover will work well with bed rail protectors? I was considering going with the GM ones to match the tailgate protectors.

 

For those that have experience with this cover, I am wondering if the textured surface of the GM covers will allow a proper mating surface for the cover? Or is there a different type of rail protector I could get.

 

Or is it just not necessary with the G4 to wory about additional protection for the rails?

I have the G4 Fold a cover. You do not need bed rail protectors because it covers alot of the bed rail including the holes in the rail.

 

I have had this cover for over a year now and I like it for the most part. The only issue is that you only have 3/4 ths of your bed if anything is taller than the cover. Other than that, I love it.

Thanks for the info, its between the fold-a-cover and the bakflip. I am not too big on the "rubber hinges" on the bakflip.

 

My friend had a fold-a-cover on his ranger since 03 and it still looks great. He only removed it once or twice to have full bed access. I can live with that every now and then. It just seems like a very solid product.

 

I did want to ask, if you fold up the G4 and remove it, will it fit in the cab of the truck??

 

I don't think I would need to do that often, but was curious if it would fit if I needed to remove it and did not have room in the bed for the cover.

I've had my G4 off and in the cab once, and yeah it does fit, but it was a tight squeeze at the door panels.

 

You shouldn't have to worry much about covering the rails, but I will say that it works fine on my truck which is Line-X'd over the rails. You can kind of see how it looks in these pics, I'll have to take some new ones the next time I get the truck cleaned back up (after the weather starts cooperating!)
