Why does my A/C cycle itself off of recirculate to fresh air (may be wrong wording here recirc vs fresh/outside? ... but you get me) without me changing anything? When I first cut it on it's always on outside air... I switch it to recirc and then sometime later I look down and it's back on outside air. Is this normal? How many, where are they, filters to stop dust etc. from entering the cab when not on recirc? Thanks.

If it is cold outside and I have mine on auto it won't stay on recirclulate.It will go to fresh air. I don't know the reason why it does that.But I have read it on here and forgot the answer. It may say in the manual.

I've noticed that the circ won't work for certain settings of the air source switch like if it's at the floor only.

Mildew is more likely to develop if you use recirc all the time...so they fixed it to go off recirc everytime you restart and in some other cases, I cant remember....I have an 05 Tahoe and it goes on recirc by itself as well, depending on how hot it is, so I never touch the button anymore, except if there is a fire somewhere or a car in front is spewing smoke....after they put the electric fans in, the a/c is more effective so you don't need recirc to stay cool!

 

I do not know if the new models have the auto recirc feature though...

So it should be going both ways, not just from recirc to fresh but back again? I'll watch it. Hard to drive down the road and watch the A/C display though! Thanks.

I noticed that I can't recirculate when a floor mode is on. This makes sense as the air would just come out by your feet and instantly go back into the floor return.

On my '08 with auto climate control, the recirc feature is only allowed for panel or floor airflow,(the lite just blinks if I try anything else) and it does reset to outside air when I restart the truck. In auto mode it switches to recirc when the a/c calls for max cooling, then switches back. Read the manual, it takes all the mystery out of the recirc business.
