As someone who has had a Tundra, lemme' tell ya', you'll be happy to be back in a good ol' american truck! My Toyota was a good rig, but after a year or so, I was bored. I had a Gen I Tundy with TRD and the 4.7L. Decent Engine, but touchy tranny, brakes and crappy rugged trails were done by 20k. The new Tundy's are nice and that 5.7L kicks ass, but the the new 6.2 in the GM actually beat it on the 1/4 mile.

Welcome home my bruddah!

Congrats!

I almost bought a Tundra last year, and I was only comparing the 5.3L/4-spd to the Tundra 5.7/6-spd. If it had been the 6.2/6-spd... it wouldn't have been close. Every "back to back" test drive produced the same smile in the GMC. The Tundra has the power, but feels more "boxy" and "aloof" to me... almost like your disconnected from the road. The deciding factor for me was that I needed the extra interior room of a crew cab, and just couldn't like the design proportions of the CrewMax. There were lots of reasons, but suffice it to say that I bought GM for design and quality, not just to support a US manufacturer. I check out the Tundra sites a bit to keep up, but I've never second guessed the Sierra. If I were buying today, it would be a GMC.

That said, the Tundra is a nice truck and cudos to Toyota for putting the 5.7L/6-spd in all models and trim levels.

My Tundra Summary............Great power and fuel economy considering HP,No wind/road noise, nice ride and handling, comfortable and lots of room.Bland inside and out, fisherprice plastics and horrid gauge cluster with poor dash layout. My wife loves the Tundra,I like it,just to boring for me..........22,000 miles.......time to move on!
