Best Year Duramax

Looking at getting back into a diesel, had a 04 dmax. Just wondering what year is possibly best besides the brand new ones or what years to stay away from. Thanks.

I have heard alot of people like the LBZ Duramax. Which came in the 06 and 07 classics. One of my buddies has an 06 sierra and i dont think he has had much problems if any...

I agree. 06 and 07 seemed to be the overall best.

My '07 LMM is great....however, I still have less than 30k kms on it. ;)

'06 and '07 Classic (aka the LBZ). The new LMM's are too emissioned up IMO.

Thanks for the reply's guys. This is what I was looking for, I will probably put a banks programmer in it so the LMM with all the emission control would probably be a no go. My 04 was a good truck but hard on fuel.

Of the three I've owned (LB7, LBZ, LMM) I like the LMM the best.

The government pretty much killed diesels. All the manufacturers are pretty much starting over with training wheels.

I like my truck, an 08 LMM.

I drive fords all day at work and my truck is way better, as far as the emissions stuff, I can live with it except the loss of fuel economy, and you can put a banks programmer on a LMM, but the 2010 trucks may be a delayed as they will have to redevelop the boxes for the new urea injection systems.

2009 has a few more bells and whistles that the 07-08 did not have and I would grab an 09 if you could find one that you want/like.

The 2010 may get better fuel economy as the DPF will go away and replaced by the urea injection system (if I understand correctly), but nobody knows the cost of the urea injection fluid vs cost of fuel so may be more expensive its gonna be a crap shoot.

Hell there may not even be a 2010 truck, GM may just shut down this summer and never reopen.

i have a 06 72000 miles on it i have had no probelms out of it
