Nav Makes Noises - No Keys In

When I open my door I hear like a disc winding up. I don't have a CD in the CD player but the nav has the DVD in it. Is that it making the noises and how and why is it if so. If not any ideas? Thanks!

It's normal. The system is booting up, so you're not staring at a blank screen as long, when you hit the key to start the truck.

It was bothering me because last night when I was taking my door apart because of the broken door handle. I had to poxy the piece that broke until my replacement comes in and let it sit overnight the battery was dead in the morning.

Also I have a space under the hood and looks like it's for a second battery. Is that something I should invest in and would the alternator be able to handle both?

IIRC, the stock alt is only rated for 145-160 amps. There are a few places online that you can get a higher amperage alt to handle a second battery. Also, its just just throwing another battery in and running a wire from the alt to the second battery. I do believe that spot is for the diesel's second battery to get higher cranking amps. I think I remember seeing posts on here about adding it.

No, you shouldn't have to get a second battery to handle the stock nav unit. Did your door not close all the way? I don't have the nav so I don't kno if the deck was on all nite cause of something done to the door.

Has it done this before or was this a first?

I just bought the vehicle so this is the first time it happened to me. But the door was not closed all the way but after 15 minutes the lights cut out. I thought thats why the lights cut out to not use the battery?
