Fred 2 Finally Has New Gears!

WOO HOO!

Finally got the 3.73s installed! (I know... it's about time) There is a BIG difference off of the line and it pulls a ton better in second. Much of what I thought was TM was the original crappy gear ratio. I haven't driven it too hard yet because I want to break in the new gears but by this weekend (after a few hundred miles) I'm gonna drive the living hell out of it and see how it does. Next weekend I'm going to try and take it to the local track and see what the changes I have made since last time have done to the 1/4 mile time. I don't expect huge differences but I can tell it is substantially quicker. 60 foot times should be loads better. I doubt soeed on the big end will change much... but we will see!

Pics of what? This one isn't much of a visual mod.

I'd hope for at least a second off the 1/4 mile time. The old gears were dog slow up to about 30MPH. These are much quicker there as far as I can tell so far. I'll find out soon as I can. I can tell already that the low end power is drastically improved.

I'd hope for at least a second off the 1/4 mile time. The old gears were dog slow up to about 30MPH. These are much quicker there as far as I can tell so far. I'll find out soon as I can. I can tell already that the low end power is drastically improved.

Pics of the install!! The old gears..or maybe a burn out. We need proof. lol. Just yanking your chain; I've never had a gear swap done, but I have rode in 5.3 3.23 reg cab trucks.

Install was easy. I dropped it off at 7:00 this morning and when I got back there at 1:30 it was done! Easy!
