If he hadn't had the second tire failure, I think he would have been a serious threat for the win, if there were no other problems or wrecks for him to get caught up in. Aero means so much at the superspeedways and he was very strong after the front tire failure even with the front fender flapping in the wind. That new fender the crew riveted/screwed on would have been even a bigger improvement over the taped on sheet metal.

I'm wondering what caused the rear tire to blow? They showed a piece or red sheet metal on the track afterwards, but I never heard them say if it came off his car and caused the flat or if it came off as a result of the flat, or if was even off his car at all.

Congrats to Ward Burton, I was glad to see him win.

As well as Jr. made that comeback after the first incident, I don't think he had it enough to contend for a win. You saw how his forward advances stopped after the newness of his tires wore off. It would have made one #### of a story if he had comeback, but I don't think it was meant to be.

Now on to the rest of the season, I'm sure we'll see Jr. in the winner's circle a few times this season.

Yeah, I don't think he had enough to win after the first temporary fix, but as well as he was running with that, he would have been running even better with the new fender mounted in place with the rivets/screws that just the duct tape and the fender flapping. I was really suprised how well he did run after the first blow out. The front of that car was seriously messed up from that tire carcass.

Oh well, on to The Rock!
