Warranty Expiring Soon

Well, I'm about make the trip *back* to New York from Las Vegas next week. It's about a 2,500 mile haul, and when I get back to Buffalo, my mileage should be sitting just shy of 36,000. This, of course, means the end of the "bumper to bumper" warranty. There are a few things I'm taking it in for:

-The lower chrome bumper insert has some pretty bad surface defects, and I'm hoping they'll replace it

-The front end has started to clunk when making sharp turns

Can you guys think of anything else I should have them take a look at? I took a good look at everything last week and nothing jumped out at me, but I know that I'm probably overlooking something. Thanks for any help :D

Oh, and Tobias--I took the "Sierra" emblem off the tailgate. That's about as debadged as my truck is going to get. I also did the antenna delete mod, just for kicks.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it...The whole point of the warranty is IN CASE SHIT HAPPENS...Only thing I'd really watch out for is the POS brake switch.

Ranger, what do you mean about the brake switch?

Svensk, that's a good idea. I took a look underneath the truck a few days ago, but maybe I'll check it again and make sure. Would that be covered under the 10 year/100K mile powertrain warranty or no?

The 07 GMT900's have a brake light switch issue where the lights actually go out before you remove your foot off the brakes fully. There was a TSB released on it. My dealer had no idea about it so I had to print the bulletin and take it to them.

Do a search and you can find the TSB with the part number.

I actually have the replacement switch but I can't figure out how the hell the stock one comes off the shaft...I searched for it here but all I really found was something about taking it apart? I don't really want to split the switch open as I'm not sure I'd be able to set it up right...

Remove the bolt, lift the tab on that metal clip, push the whole clip down, pull clip off, pull switch and pushrod off. Reverse to install.

EDIT: I'm waiting on the switch from the dealership, the jerk offs can't get one because it's backordered.

I've tried pushing and pulling that clip every which way, not budging much...

If the mileage is in danger of exceeding the warranty before you get back, have a dealer out there look at it and annotate the mileage while it is under 36K. I am talking about the chrome issue and the clunk in particular. My wife had an 06 that clunked like crazy when turning. The dealer did a lot of guess work repair and never solved it. It is someone else clunker now.
