4l60e Vs 4l65e

Hey guys I was just wandering the difference in the two transmisions. Im pretty sure i have the 4l60e, but what do they put the L65 in?

Someone can post the exact date they switched production and specifics, but the 4l65e replaced the 60e. Literally, the same exact transmission...just a couple internals might be "slightly" redesigned.

4L65 is a strengthened version of the 4L60E, which was an updated version of the 700R4 introduced back in the early 80s. There is a 4L70 version as well but I think it was mostly used in motorhome chassis. The "E" designation has been dropped by GM since all of the m are now electronically controlled transmissions.

And no, the "e" is still there. :lol:

I figured you would bite on that.

 

As far as the E designation, it has been dropped from most all of the catalog references we deal with as of 2009. Even the hard parts suppliers aren't using it anymore. I'm sure that isn't the case for everybody. Old names die hard.
