Costar Tech/ Bluestar Bluetooth Group Buy

Is anyone interested in doing a group buy for these? I've been thinking about getting one for a while now. For those that don't know, this is the one that gives you bluetooth with the factory mic and speakers. You replace your onstar module with their module. It's combined with a Motorla HF850. From what I can see it gives you the closest functionality to the factory bluetooth in the '09s. I was going to do the factory upgrade, but from what I can tell this either isn't going to happen or it's going to be quite some time until the parts are actually made available from GM. Any takers? They told me $250 for greater than 10, regular price is $279 (for the new body style GMLAN PnP).

I've already got this installed in my truck and can atest to the sound quality, functionality and seamless integration of this bluetooth handsfree kit. The only real draw back to this product over the OEM upgrade to the 09 OnStar module if the loss of OnStar with this kit. But, some folks, like myself, never renewed OnStar, so for us, this gives new life to an otherwise inoperative system...

Not trying to jack your thread here....But the Blue Fusion from Scosche is a plug and play that integrates with the factory radio and there is no loss of Onstar. Schosche Blue Fusion It costs 349, a little pricey.

I may be interested in the Costar kit. Have you read any reviews on it?

I thought the Blue Fusion used a separate mic, where the BlueSTAR integrated the OnStar mic. There website does give much information and I could not find an installation PDF to determine how it's installed and what exsisting equipment it utilizes. Again, if you're not using OnStar anyway, the BlueSTAR is still the more affordable option...

I think Paul is right, that the Schosche requires a separate mic. The only reviews I've seen have been on GM forums (including Paul's) and everyone has said great things. One guy was having trouble with the Motorola piece and Costar sent him a new one without any hassle. From what I can tell their service is fantastic and they will take care of you.

Sorry if it's a dumb question, but would any of these units interfere with the operation of my PXAMG?

Probably not because the CoSTAR kit just replaces the OnStar module and uses the OEM OnStar interface cable. So, unless the PXAMG somehow interfaces with OnStar I would not think it would have any effect on it.

Thanks, guys!

What's the verdict? Is there a snowball's chance of getting 10 people together?

keep me posted, I'm interested.

Just got the Costar unit, but I'm having trouble locating the Onstar module. Could I trouble anyone with experience to share some tips?

FWIW, and strictly IMO/IME, I won't be spending any more money with Coastaletech. Not only did I have problems with both products (320 lockpick & ipod lockpick) I bought from them, it is absolutely impossible to get in touch with them. After numerous unanswered emails and voice messages, I gave up and now use the items as paperweights in my garage.

Anyway, sorry for the tangent. I'm very excited to get the Bluestar unit installed.
