Oem Upgrade To 09 Onstar Module

I have done some reading that one can upgrade their OEM Onstar module in some near current GM vehicles to a 2009 module. This would allow you to have Bluetooth capabilities. Has anyone done this? If so what application(s) did you use, part numbers and where did you purchase it.

I have a 2007 Yukon and would like this as I no longer subcribe to Onstar. I have looked at the Bluestar but would like the call display feature (which is not available with Bluestar) and the ability to connect to Onstar if need be in the future.

Search for Bluetooth. The answers you are looking for are in one of the more recent bluetooth threads. Part numbers, problems, issues, worries, installs, etc.

While it IS possible, you're going to have a b!tch of a time finding an 09 module. I tried ordering one from GM and they require a VIN and core exchange of the exact same module to buy the proper VCIM. Our best bet is to either find a supplier connection or scour the salvage yards for used ones (won't be easy yet, may take a few years to see some totalled '09s we can strip of parts).

The part numbers I have are these:

VCIM # 20783877

Antenna # 15938939

Steering Wheel Switch # 25851951

This was per member 07crewsierra.

If anyone knows where we can source the VCIM without needing a VIN and core exchange please let us know... I'm definitely doing this mod as soon as I can get my hands on the parts.
