wmorgan518 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 So I'm in the middle of installing a corvette servo in my 04 sierra and i got to the point where I remove the original servo and pin, but there isn't enough clearance between the tranny and the body for it to come out, any suggestions?
Grebbler Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 You can beat on the tunnel a bit to make more room or shake the pieces apart so they come out in..er.. pieces. You can also unbolt the rear tranny mount and wedge the driveline over.
Zembonez Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 You can beat on the tunnel a bit to make more room or shake the pieces apart so they come out in..er.. pieces. You can also unbolt the rear tranny mount and wedge the driveline over. Drop the rear mount and crossmember. Make sure you have a jack under the pan. Lower the rear of the trans with the jack until it clears. Make sure you disconnect the battery before doing this... no unwanted arc-welding that way.
bigredmariner Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 You do have the cover seperated from the piston right? I guess if you do and it still won't come out you don't have much choice but to "dimple" the tunnel a bit. Good luck and keep us posted.
wmorgan518 Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 Well after lowering the crossmember and doing a little "persuading" with the pry bar I finally got everything out and besides the snap-ring over the cover the re-install went smooth. So much for a 30 minute install though. Anyway, waiting till tomorrow to test drive, so I will let everyone know how that goes. Thanks for the help.
2005LT Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Glad to hear you got it back together Will. Let us know how it drives after you take it for a spin!
wmorgan518 Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 Alright took it for a test drive this morning, idled like hell for a while and even stalled at one point, any ideas why this would happen? Anyway, after a while it smoothed out and I can really tell a difference. Its subtle when I'm driving normal, but it's very obvious when you really get on it. All in all, I'm pretty happy with how it performs. I did unhook the battery when I dropped the cross member, could this cause the rough idle?

dwhults Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Glad everything worked out. My friend noticed mine shifts better than his immediately (he has an 03 Yukon). Now he is thinking of doing it. I love the way it shifts now.
