Bug Deflector Question

ok...I installed this bug deflector yesterday:

http://www.autoventshade.com/PartDetail.as...amp;catcode=AUT

....and I'm pretty happy with it so far. No drilling, it uses some 3m tape and three rubber compression nut that fit in existing hole in hood.

It also came with four clear rubber bumpers that are supposed to get stuck on the hood to prevent any contact from messing up the paint. But it seems as if the only place the deflector could make contact is on the outer edges of it.....on the top front edge of the fenders.

Anybody here have this deflector mounted on their truck? If so.....any place this does make contact? I didn't stick any of the rubber bumpers to the hood or fenders yet...not sure if I need to.

Thanks....

Can't answer your question DIRECTLY, but can share this...

several years ago I had a f*rd f250SD, and had a bug deflector installed (by the dealer, when new). Right where the deflector wrapped around the front to the fenders, I had a rub that worked itself down to the bare metal in a week, or two, w/o me even noticing it until it was tool late.

Dealer fixed the scrathch, removed the deflector, and indicated they could not install a replacement until there was a design change. They gave me the option of a full refund, or waiting until the new design was available. I waited (about 3 weeks) and the new design was indeed changed, and the problem did not re-surface.

I would guess that the spacers are probably designed for that region.

If I were you I would put the rubber bumpers on the deflector in the places were you think it might rub. That way it isn't on the paint. Did that on my parents SUV with no issues.

I did the same and it works great!

Thats the same brand deflector I have always used on my trucks. I never put on those bumpers and have never had any problems with rubbing. It alwasy looked like it was far enough from the paint to be any issue.
