I have recently swapped out all 4 speakers in my truck not including the tweeters with some Infinity Reference 6022si's, and upon doing this I was very surprised with the sound, until I tried to get some base (not looking for a lot but at least a little bit, thinking one 10 inch sub max). As you know, the stock head unit doesn't have the power, therefore I have decided that I would like to add an amp.

I just have the stock system (no Bose) and am sticking with the stock head unit and still want to have all of the chimes. If I add an amp in the arm rest, and connect it with the PAC adapter, should I then run new speaker wires to all 4 door speakers and run provisional wires for a sub to be added later, or should I just run the wires to the sub and add it without worrying about amping the door speakers?

I have read through many of the discussions on this topic, and get lost somewhere among all of the technical jargon. Please let me know what would work best and not be impossible for me to do on my own.

Opinions on amps and subs is appreciated.

Thanks.

Everyone will have varying opinions on this. Mine is that I think you would be severely overpowering your speakers if you only amp'd a sub. If I were you I would amp them all. Get a 4 channel for your current Infinitys and then get a Class D mono for your sub. Again, you will probably get a lot of different opinions on this. Sometimes it just comes down to trial and error, or how much you want to spend. Both of my amps are Alpines and after I purchase my sub, all my speakers will be Polk. Good luck!

Thanks for the info NoLuck7! I think I may try to amp the speakers first and see if that gives me what I'm looking for, especially since I don't really want to have a sub in the way when I fold the seats up.

Just in case its not what completely what I want, can anyone else chime in so I can get a consensus?
