Ac Pump Lubrication?

Recommended Posts

The bearings on A/C "compressors" (the gizmo under the hood with a fan belt connected to it) are sealed. There is lubrication circulating inside the tubing along with the refrigerant. This is what lubricates the compressor.

And the amount of lubrication inside the tubing needs to be the amount specified by the manufacturer.

If there was a leak and only refrigerant added (no oil), then you might need to add some oil.

Otherwise if there has not been a leak, the proper amount of oil should still be in the A/C system.

So not much you can do except have the compressor replaced.
