Need A New Catalytic Coverter!

My cat. converter has gone bad on my '95 C1500 and I'm in need of a new one for use in California. Does anyone know a good site for direct fit cats? It's a short bed, standard cab, auto tranny, 2WD, 5.0L/305 engine.

Thanks in advance for the help. :D

Are they in the Y pipe like the 99 and up models? I thought California outlawed non OEM cats a while back?

Yeah I think it's the Y-pipe one, and they did outlaw the non OEM ones unless it's approved by C.A.R.B. :D

What I'm thinking is to get a universal cat. that's C.A.R.B. approved and some LT headers.. since I'm thinking of throwing on a cat back exhaust soon.

Any suggestions of a Cali legal set of LTs? Haha. I want to replace the headers, new cat. and the exhaust behind the cat all together.

Just for reference. It's like this http://www.car-sound.com/02product/display...directfit=39256

im from edmonton alberta and it is also illegal to remove your cats here as well however we all do, cats are extremely expensive and truly a waiste of good horse power as well, i say you just cut it out and make sure you get real friendly with someone who does inspections

Oh here you need it but its more of a visual thing...they might be more anal down there.

Being a 95 and OBD1, the type of cat isn't as big of a deal and won't be extremely expensive like a 96 and newer vehicle. A catco or magnaflow converter will work just fine and either can be picked up for under $100.

100 bucks from where? :O The cheapest I've found for the California version is around $308

Many custom exhaust shops should have a cheaper cats available and you'll pass a smog test just fine with them. I'm originally from California, had a 91 and a 95 silverado, both with a Catco high flow cat and had them installed for $125 out the door.

If you're looking at LT headers, none are going to be CARB approved...

Yeah, I was looking at Doug Thorley's Tri-Ys.

I'm going to a local exhaust shop to have my brother's cat back system welded together and I'll ask around when I'm there.

Thanks. :sigh:

Just a little, $6,000 dollar fine or so for not having one / working one. :sigh:

Ouch now I know why so many people hate living there.

It's not too bad if you can find legal parts, other then that I love living here.

Weather is unpredictable and the crazy people in L.A. / Hollywood. :sigh:
