Painting The Bodyside Molding

The paint on my bodyside moldings is starting to show wear. I plan on repainting them myself. What steps should I take in the process to achieve the best results? What else will I need besides a spray can of dark grey metallic paint, clearcoat, and some sand paper?

The paint on my bodyside moldings is starting to show wear. I plan on repainting them myself. What steps should I take in the process to achieve the best results? What else will I need besides a spray can of dark grey metallic paint, clearcoat, and some sand paper?

 

Acetone (or the like) to wipe the parts down before you lay the primer and paint down. This will avoid reaction.

 

NOTE: Clear coat from a can works best when you go a little heavy with it. If you put light coats it looks like over spray.
