I'm in need of replacement shocks for my '04 2wd and I think I have decided on the KYB Monomax and have found them for $50 & $52 each for the front and rear of my truck on this site. I just want to know if anyone on hear has had luck getting shocks from them. They are the cheapest I have found so far.

Glad to here, they do look like a very nice shock, I'm at 55K miles on the OEM and they suck!

haven't been inside the facility, but i have 2 experiences with KYBs.

1. adjustable on my galant - waste of money. either too stiff, or too soft.

2. monomaxxes on my truck front. just like promised - they raised front end about 2 inches. many will say it's impossible, but they did, i don't care. after that - they are stiff like wooden carriage. get bilsteins. i have pair of those in the rear, and can tell the difference. unless you constantly hauling, of course.

I have them on my 03 1500. I run 285 BFG A/T's (E-rated) at 52 psi. I usually run 700-1000 miles per week. I have about 300 lbs in a tool box and often pull trailers (usually 7000 lbs). I busted the factory shock when I put too much weight in the bed. My truck rides...like a truck, but I have no complaints.

I installed KYB MonoMax shocks on my '99 Z71 and was pleased by the ride. They did not seem to change the ride height at all. I also had AirLift bags in the rear for towing but I never had more than 5psi in them when running unloaded. Soem say the Bilsteins provide a smoother ride with good control but the KYB's were cheaper. I bought them from Summit Racing.

 

The OEM shocks had about 66K miles on them and were shot.

I installed KYB Gas-a-Just shocks (white ones with the red logo) on my 97 C2500 a year ago and I have been very pleased with the ride and stable performance... based on the website the Monomax are the upgrade to these Gas-a-Just.... I have Load Range D tires and I pull a large travel trailer occasionally.

Anyone ever order from this site? They have a good price, but sometimes I wounder why they are $10-$20 cheaper they anyother site.

I've always liked the KYB's. Had a number of Gas-a-just shocks over the years and MonoMax's on my last truck, a 96 K1500. Being a high-pressure gas shock, you do get a slight lift and some road harshness compared to standard shocks but this is a small issue. They are very responsive and they do improve handling considerably. The first thing you really notice is how level the truck stays on a hard corner, such as an off-ramp when you are pushing it a little bit. They also help control the front end from dipping a corner on uneven highways. Go for it!
