$2500 Later, New Vibration

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to get some new opinions. I have tossed 2500$ in to my truck in the last three months on new front wheel bearings, new rear hub seals, a new transfer case, new u-joints, and a drive shaft balance. Now i have a new virbration. This one seems a bit more sporatic, seems like its in the suspension. I get it after i hit a bump at any speed and if im crusing on the highway around 65 mph. Can Anyone point me in a new direction???

I think there's a TSB on this, you need two new (special) rear body mounts. It has to do with resonant frequency of your truck...

Also I have never had any problems with tires for my truck, but bought a small car when gas prices went up. Then had all sorts of problems with poor quality tires. One time there was a vibration which I though was front wheel alignment. It turned out the tires were "out of round". But again never had this problem with truck tires.

I've seen truck tires that were out of round... thats actually more common than you may think.

Though the OP says it happens when he's hitting bumps, which wouldn't make a difference with an out of round tire.

checked the tie rods/ ball joints this morning no play or anything. my trucks pulls a little to the left when i let go of the steering wheel, could i just need to get the front end alinghed???? on the body mount deal what is a TSB????

I just found a post elseware on google with the body mount problem, says it happens around 40 - 60 mph. I definatly get it then but it also seems like i get it at lower speeds as well, like when slowing for a stop sign. It says load the rear of the bed up with 200 - 500 lbs. if it stops it is the body mounts. Im going to try it this weekend coming up, hope it works. If not guess ill be finding a garage to check it out for me. im at a loss........

Upon further inspection (Im not the brightest crayon in the box) My upper control arm bushing appears to be shot! The part looks cheap enough and I have replaced these before on my '03 cavalier. Obviously its not the same beast but has anyone replaced these?? Just wondering how hard it was.
