'94 S10 Windshield Wiper Motor/module?

My buddy has a '94 s10 pickup, and the windshield wipers act funny to him. He says when you turn the wipers off, they swipe about 5 more times before they stop. Also, sometimes they don't stop in the "park" position. Sometimes the intermittent feature works, sometimes they dont. To me, it seems the windshield wiper motor is operating correctly, its like it isn't getting the correct signal from the module. Any suggestions?
