2007 Suburban 1500 Towing

I am looking to pull a travel trailer that has a dry weight of 6000lbs with my 2007 1500 Suburban. My suburban should pull it being rated at 8100lbs. Wondering if i will be able to pull this off. Any insights or experience with pulling a travel trailer would be great.

I don't have first hand experience with a Suburban but I think you would be pushing it, especially since you know you'll be more like 7000 lbs with the trailer loaded. I tow a 5000 lb enclosed trailer without any problem with my 5.3 Sierra. My buddy had problems towing a 5000 lb dry weight camper with his. He could and did and does do it, but he's always fighting with the Mrs. to keep the weight down and he put new rear axle bearings in last month. You are starting at 1000 lbs more than he is.

I think with all the gear and passengers your gonna really FEEL it. I think it's a little heavy personally. You'll be able to tow it,.. but you sure won't win any races. What gears do you have. Also make sure you have good sway control and e-brake.
