Box Measurements ?

Does anyone with a mid 80's pick up with a long box know the measurements across the top of the box where the cap would sit???

I have a '78 long bed Silverado, bed dimensions are 97" x 66" inside and 99" x 73" Outside(inside to outside of bed rails are 3 1/2" per side and inside to outside of tailgate and front of bed is 1" per side)...not sure if the beds changed any or if this is even what youre asking about, but I figured since no one is answering any answer would be better then none, im not sure what you mean by "box"

Thanks I looking for a cap for my 2001 and found a cap that I believe is off a 88-98 that will work but I must of miss measured it when I looked at it.. I think the measurements was 77 3/4 x 99 1/2

there may be some difference from the 1978 model truck box that Jeff measured up for you and the 88-98 cap that you measured. Jeff's measurements would be the same for up to a 1987 model, but there were body style changes in 88... may have changed required dimensions for a truck cap slightly.

He said mid-80's, thats why I measured mine, I didnt know he was actually looking at a late 80's...lol

Well if it isn't any trouble I would be curious to see but today I went and re measured the cap (topper) and it measures 72 1/2 inches wide in the front and that would be too wide for mt 2001 2500 HD it appears to be off a 73-87 long box....
