Back Up Lights That Go In Hitch

I've been told that those are no good, I installed and wired in a set of fog/driving lights mounted to the bumper on either side of the hitch. The lights cost $15 at WallyWorld and didn't take much time to install.

^x2. I found a set of PIAA back-up lt's on ebay for $75 (normally over $100), came with everything you need (relay, 3-way switch, wire harness). There are cheaper ways to do it of course but these lights have stood up to 3 winters of heavy road salt and plenty of muddy roads without an issue. I just mounted them with hose clamps on to the hitch. A little red-neck but it works!!!

I made U-Bolts so I could use the set of holes already in the bumper. Thinking about upgrading from the cheap lights I have now for some nicer ones, at least all I have to do at this point is swap out the lights them self’s. If you end up mounting lights your self you can also tap into the reverse lights on the truck so the lights turn on when you put it in reverse. I wanted them to only come on when I wanted them so I didn't go blinding anyone in the parking lot.

You can get some cheap lights, or even some nice expensive light for what you'll spend on that light kit, and you'll be much happier with the results. If you need help wiring the lights, there are plenty of guys to help you out here. The main thing you have to remember is to use a relay. I use to sell light kits for Jeep wranglers with all the fuses and wire taps. It is really easy to put together. Good luck.

I have the whitenight setup... still in box, lol

I bought it off another member on here a while back and never got the chance to install it... If you are interested in it i can make you a deal on it... I think the concept / design of it is awesome. Seems very well made , and no perm. install to the truck :dunno:
