A/c Problem

92 chevy 2500 cheyenne with the 350

 

a/c stops working. if i disconnect the batt for 10 seconds it will work again

 

changed the compressor clutch. i've tried using a paperclip to jump the pressure switch on the condensor, but that doesnt work.

 

i'm lost. i'm about to change the climate control unit just to say i have i guess

The right way to find the problem would be with a factory wiring diagram manual and a multimeter. Then test various inputs and outputs.

 

Or guess and replace parts.

 

Generally electronic things having problems would fit with the above symptoms with removing power, then reapplying power and it then works. So the A/C controller module would be a logical "guess".

 

If I could grab one of those from a wrecking yard for $20, I might try replacing it. But if I had to pay $400 for one, I would make darn sure that was the problem by testing and using a wiring diagram first.

you mean the climate control unit on the dash? cash i switched it out, but it doesnt have a recirculation button, but it works just fine. so fr no problems, but its only been 6 hours lol.
