I sent a picture from my phone to my email so I could post it up here, but it hasn't come through yet. When it does I'll come back and post it.

The brand is Lyfe Tyme. They're made here in TX, and they're solid, 1/4" steel. I love the thing, I just smoked a 20 lb brisket, 2 beercan chickens, and 4 sausage links this past weekend for a bunch of friends. I don't know if they'll have them outside of TX or not. I like a firebox style because it lets you cook a lot of food over the surface, and if I ever wanted to 'grill' I could just dump the coals under the grates.

http://www.lyfetyme.com/ that's their web site. If you click on Our Pits, I got the 20x40 dual lid with firebox. the thing is huge, I absolutely love it.

You can call them and see if they have retail outlets in your area. The one I got weighs 700 lbs so trying to get it in and out of the bed of the truck would have been a pain. So I ended up renting a trailer to cart it home. If I were to weld up my own, it'd be basically the same thing, just maybe mounted to a trailer (the one they have on a trailer is a tad big for where I live right now). This thing definitely passes the 'shake' test and really will last you longer than you'd ever need it to.

I am the Pitt Boss for a competition team in the Kansas City Area, Big Ole' Boys Bar-B-Q and first you really need to set a price range as how much you want to invest in this adventure. Such as myself I just dropped $2000 for a custom smoker but before I had a couple of water vertical smokers and a barrel style with an offset fire box love them all it is just what you plan on doing and how much you wanna spend.

Oklahoma Joe's is a good brand (never personally owned one but people on my team have them) and they can be found around the country. Very durable and will last a life time if properly treated. Propane fired smokers are become more popular so check into them also. If ya have any questions give me a hollar and I will answer them the best I can.

Good Luck

I have one of those $40 electric Brinkman brand units. Works pretty good and ready to go when I need it. Used to have the one with the coals, but that was a pain. If I were to step up anotehr notch, I would look into the propane model. From there, a buddy of mine has one that runs like a pellet stove, only it has teh hardwoods through the hopper. Pretty nice deal there too, but a little too $$$ for me. I had to weigh amount of use/quantity of food/price when I did my deal, but for the $40, I can sell it at a garage sale if I didn't like it.
