2007 Silverado Low Fuel Alarm

Is there a typical mileage left in the tank when you get the low fuel alarm on a 2007 Silverado w/4.8 engine. I just upgraded to the DIC and forgot to check the display to see the mileage left on the truck before refilling. Any ideas? The manual did not indicate any standard, and I know it depends on your driving habits.

I'm not sure, but I think it's somewhere around 35-40 miles.

Sounds about right,Maybe even a little more,I know on mine when I fill up "as soon as" my low fuel light comes on it takes about 23 gallons to fill-up,So that means there was about 3 gallons left.

I have noticed that when the DIC thinks you have a 50 mile range, it starts warning of low fuel. I rarely, if ever, let it get that low, but the few times I have it "pops" around 50 miles left (range).

Keep your fuel pump from dying and don't let it get to that point. I haven't gotten my computer flashed for my 285's yet so it thinks I'm traveling less than I am. Because of this, my remaining miles is about 15 over how far I'd actually be able to get.

The fuel pump is not cooled by the gasoline around it, but by the fuel running through it, so unless you're running it COMPLETELY dry (to the point where the pump is just trying to pump air), you're not doing damage.
