I'm an Aviation Electronics Technician First Class in the US Navy.

I joined up in Feb 1982 and been stationed in Pensacola, Fl, Memphis, TN, Guam, China Lake, Cal, Brunswick, Me, and now back to Pensacola.

I'm an Electronics Warfare and RADAR operator on P-3 sub-chaser aircraft, but right now pulling some shore duty flying the Navy version of the Bell Jet Ranger helicopter.

How many other military folks do we have as members?

I'm an F-16 Aircraft Armament Sytems Specialist (Weapons Loader).  I joined the Air Force on 1 July 1987, a month and a half after I graduated high school.  I went to Basic Training in San Antonio, TX.  Tech School in Denver, CO.  Then stationed at Shaw AFB, SC.  I spent 217 days in the desert during Operation Desert Shield/Storm (Aug 90 - Mar 91) living in a tent.  Our wing dropped more than 10 million pounds of munitions on Iraq and flew over 4,200 F-16 sorties (flights).  Unbelievably, I'm still at my first duty station.  Alot of people that are here have been here a long time also, so it's not really that uncommon.

Other than my family, especially the birth of my son, I would have to say particpating in Operation Desert Shield/Storm is the one thing I'm the most proud of in my life so far.  Sometimes I still think it's wild that I was in a war!  So does my 7 year old son.

Found this thread as well and since it was back in 01 and we have so many more menbers thought to bring it back around.

I joined the Air Force in October 25, 1983 after graduating from high school, my job is an Aerospace Propulsion Specialist, AKA jet engine mechanic. Spent basic training in San Antonio Tx, then tech school in Rantoul Il. at Chanute AFB and arrived at Seymour Johnson AFB NC in March of 84. Man it can get cold in Il!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I work on the Pratt & Whitney F100-220E jet engine that goes in the F-15E Eagle

Been stationed here in NC the whole time with a one year tour at Kunsan AB Korea from June 99 to 2000. I call it a long TDY (temporary duty assignment)

I had a part in Desert Shield/Storm back on 90/91 From Dec to April stationed at Al Khar's AB living in a ten as well. My job there was tank build up, it envolved taking packaged kits of the external 600 gallon fuel tank that the F-15E uses and putting them together. I remember when the war kicked off they told us to get the tanks built and as fast and as many as we could. The pilot's were dropping them off the jets as fast as they could even thought they were not suppose to. I guess in the real world with live ammo heading your way things change and I would have dropped them too.

The Air Force has been good to me. Other than leaving my wife and then 2yr old twin girls for a year in Korea it wasn't to bad. My time will be up in Oct of 09. Then like I tell everyone around here I'll have to start working for a living. :shakehead:

Joined the USAF in 1994 as a Fuel Specialist.

Stationed in Little Rock.

Went to Nellis AFB in Las Vegas for a 45 day green flag exercise.

Went to Dhahran Saudi Arabia for 90 days for Operation Southern Watch in 1996. (No beer!)

Went to McDill AFB in Tampa for a month for training.

Got out in 1998, after my wonderful wife left my daughter and I for a better man.

Moved back to Maine with my kid and joined the Maine ANG under the "Try One" program and hated it. It was frustrating to have to re-certify all over again so "Try One" is just what I did.

Got the extra 5 point verterans preference and now work at the USPS.

I'm a member of the American Legion and VFW and I donate to the PVA and RNC regularly.
