I didin't install a Zone Body Lift, and it's been a long time since I did a body lift, but I'll give my 2 cents. Obviously, you need to remove the body bolts. All electrical attached to the body has to be loosened, along with the fuel filler hose. The brake lines have to be stretched, careful not to kink or bend them to much. The steering shaft has to be extended, and the radiator dropped (hopefully your kit has drop brackets). Once you've made sure everything connected to the body & frame have been separated, then you can go ahead & jack up the body on one side, and insert the new spacers & bolts loosely tightened. Repeat for other side of body. Long story short, read your install instructions 99X and make sure you follow them. It helps to have a couple strong buddies around also. As for how long it should take, that all depends on how mechanically inclined you are, and if you have the right tools. Good luck!

theres nothing really "hard" about doing a bl... just take your time and go step by step.

start saturday morning so if you dont finish you can work on sunday too.

have you ever taken your gmc grill off? i spent 2 hours on it because everyone said the grill comes off before the bumper cover... but it really doesnt. take the bumper cover off first, its just two small screws at each end, and the grill 2nd.

also, the zone steering extension sucks. get some silicone caulk and put a generous amount on the inside bore, then put the extension on. id do this as the first step so the caulk can cure while doing the rest of the work. the caulk will take up the tolerance so you dont get a knocking feel in your steering wheel.

i wont be home until late tonight so i cant post pics until then....but if you search my username and threads i have started with the words " gmt900 " in the thread title you'll find my body lift thread... theres some pics there along with a link to a photobucket slideshow that has pictures of the install in sequebtial order.

Relevant question: I've read that the front bumper relocation per the instructions requires some welding. I also thought I read on here where members found other alternatives to this, but the "how" they did it wasn't explained. Can anyone shed some light on that? Does this other route leave everything with the same strength?

there is no welding required for the 3" zone kit... not even in the instructions. are you referring to the 1.5" kit maybe?
