Truck is an 08 GMC Sierra 5.3 4x4 with the Eaton locker, regular cab with a 6' bed. Tire size is P265/70 17. The Goodyear Wrangler ST's are really bad in the snow and mud (of course they are not designed for that). Has anyone had any experience with the tires listed below? Note that all are P-metric and NOT Light Truck.

1. Goodyear Silent Armor

2. Hercules Terra Trac A/T (not the A/W!!)

3. Cooper Discoverer ATR

4. Toyo Open County A/T

I do not want a true 'mudder' tire so please do not recommend one. I do need a tire that is excellent in snow/slush and very good offroad. Offroad to me is sloppy/muddy farm lanes, crossing tilled farm fields and unimproved dirt roads. I had considered a Kuhmo tire but I can't remember the model name and don't have my notes in front of me but it was an A/T type. Thanks in advance.

I have Toyo's on my Tacoma and they are a really good tire. When it's time to replace them unless I decide on something more aggresive, I will get them again.

I ran the Firestone Destination A/T's on my 2003 Silverado Z71. Very quiet on the road/highway. They were great in just about everything. Snow, slush, dry, rain, muddy trails. I traded the truck with about 23k on these. Still looked like new.

I just put the Cooper ATR's in a P rating on my truck in December. (RCSB to like you) and they have been great. Mine does not have the locker so granted at times when i could have made it in 2 wheel drive with the locker i had to put it in 4. But thats not the tires fault. They have been good to me, i live on gravel here in MN, so slush/snow and now muddy backroads and on the farm. Have treated me just fine and they look good too. Hope that helps, goodluck.

I bought the Nitto Terra Grapplers (sister to the Toyo AT's), P-rated, have 12k on them so far, handling on wet pavement is fantastic! The are priced economically also.

NO NO NO!!! I am on my second set of Yokohama Geolanders, got 70,000 out of the fisrt set. Quiet on the road, good all around traction and tough as nails. I wouldn't buy any other tire in this size

BFG AT KO for me and nothing else. Been driving on just that for the past 7 years. I don't do enough offroad to require more grip and they are great in snow, but just so so on ice.

Edit to add: Ignore my post, you are looking for Passenger car tires, not Light Truck tires.
