Tire Problems on 05?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if anybody has had any problems with tire wear on the bridgestone duehler a/t's? I have an 05 silverado and my front tires are wearing funny. They are wearing like a sawtooth from front to back, each lug is wearing more on the back than the front. Anyone else having this problem??

I had a wear problem on my Goodyear stockers, they cupped real bad running at 35 psi. Run 'em around 40 now, seems to have evened things out over 10k miles. First thing to try is adjusting the air pressure.

My tires on my 05 are wearing the same way. Its called feathering, and usually a result of toe being out from alignment. I jacked up my Tbars a couple of months ago and got the alignment done. I have not seen the wear get any worse but to be honest with you I have noticed a few trucks with this wear. Not sure if its inherint on them or just come from the factory with alignment out.

I had similar wear on my stock tires also. I got an alignment when I got my new tires and it was off a little but when i asked them about the wear on the old tires, they said they doubted what was off would have caused that (sorry don't remember off hand what was out of alignment).

I have not noticed any wear on the new tires, so i'm hoping it was just something with the crappy OE bridgestones.

Rotating your tires every 6000mi is the key to good tire wear. I have had Bridgestone OEM tires on my last 3 trucks and have gotten over 50K with even tread wear just by rotating.

Had the same problem on my 04' took it in and they re-aligned the front end under warrenty and rotated the tires a 7k no problems sense.

I called the dealership today, where i know the service manager, he said that GM knows about this problem, it is a defect in the oem bridgestones, at the time GM is telling the customers to keep driving them and they are supposed to be doing a recall or something like that on them. He went ahead and set me up with an appointment to check the alignment anyways just to be sure. He also mentioned something about bridgestone was trying to manufacture enough to replace the faulty tires. Just for the record the truck only has 3300 miles on it and its this bad already.

This is the reason why as soon as I got my truck the Bridgestones came off and Goodyears went on!!

I don't like Bridgestones at all and have heard a lot of bad stories on them,Even the so called "best tires in the world are the REVO's" that a lot of guys on here swear by,I've heard a lot of horror stories on them also.

And you definetly need to rotate the tires on these trucks every 3 to 4,000 miles, anymore and sometimes the wear is so bad you can't "even-it-out" by rotating them around.

6,000 would be the most I would go but even that is a little to far for me.

I agree driving on these stocker pos bridgestones has scared me away from that brand for good, i dont care how many people praise those revos i just dont like the bridgestone brand at all!Bfg ko's imo are the way to go and cant wait for them to show up at the tire store damm things are on back order from bfg!I cant wait to have a tire that doesnt feel like it's going to fold under itself around corners like these duelers do and not to mention have traction in the snow.

Could you guys please document your recall sources, or call-for-recall sources.

Thanks! A URL would be great...

Absolutely.

Toe has been a problem on these too, but even with a good alignment, the front tires are subject to wear unevenly.

Never heard anything about specific tires being recalled for any reason.
