If you hit up www.the12volt.com and search for your truck you'll find an explanation of what each wire does, if your illuminator wire isn't the same as the one that gets tapped into the accessory wire, then you'll want to have the illuminator go to the acc wire too (the one that only gets 12v when they key is turned)

Hope that helps!

Did you use a wiring harness? Is the wire coming from the CD player labeled as "Illumination" or "Dimmer?" If you used a wiring harness and the wire is labeled as Illumination, connect it to the solid orange wire coming off of the harness. If it's labeled as Dimmer, connect it to the orange wire with a white stripe.

If you didn't use a wiring harness, this should help: http://crutchfield.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/cr...amp;p_topview=1

So you didn't use a harness adapter and just cut off the factory plug? In that case, just use the Brown wire (NOT the same brown wire that goes to your left rear speaker).

sorry if im being confuseing its been a long day . no i did use a harness adapter but off the wireing harness is were the orange wire comes from for the cd player but you said just hook it to the brown wire ? thanks

Yeah, there should be another brown wire, but not the same brown wire that goes to one of your speakers.

Do you have a voltmeter? You might want to make sure that wire supplies 12 volts only when you turn on your lights.

With my Pioneer DEH-P3600 I couldn't ever get the illumination to work right. Even now I can't but the 04 has 2 illum wires to connect to on the harness. I guess I picked wrong.
