  2. Put new wheels on today. Truck has a 2 inch Zone front level, 275 65 18 Hankook Dynapro ATMs, 18x9 -12 offset XF Off-road XF-203 wheels. Also took off the bottom half of the air dam the other day.

  3. Welp, yesterday I opened the passenger side door to work on something while talking to a friend and hung out for a minute before deciding to remote start my truck. Hit the lock button and then remote started it. Reached across and put my keys in the ignition. Stood chatting for a moment and when I went to walk around my truck to get in, I closed the passenger door. An hour of idling and waiting later, AAA to the rescue.

  4. As promised, here's a before and after of the finished product: Ignore the crappy "photoshopping" around the truck. I was trying to hide/cut out other vehicles and items to protect others' privacy. As for the truck, I have the 5100's set to the 2nd highest setting (1 down from the highest setting). The tires are 275/70/R18's. I was worried about how the load range E tires would feel on the road, but the truck drives great. And I can't explain why or how, but my steering loosened back up after these tires went on and the popping noise when steering issue went away. The only explanation I have is that the noise and tightness had something to do with the angle of the tierods and the new tires adjusted that angle just enough to make a difference. In theory I wouldn't think the tires could have an effect on the angle given this set up, but I don't know how else to explain it. Overall though I'm thrilled with how the truck looks now and how it drives.

  5. Did a test load today with the kids bike, and my new Polaris. Fit, and test drive went great! Now we are ready for the woods... No, we did not strap down where you see, that is only to take up the loose ends of the straps, too bad the lens had white dots all over it, would have been a great pick. Having the lift installed Monday, can't wait!

  6. Thanks for that. It was a major shock for us all and a very sad time. The maps on your iPhone are from Google Maps (which is nothing more than a compilation from different map sources); the maps on my iPad are from Google. Using the Apple Play on your truck should make the maps and navigation available to you. Before I had my Android set up on the truck thru Android Auto, my wife plugged her iPhone in to charge it. Apple Play immediately launched and connected her phone to the console screen. Yours should do the same thing. I'm waiting for the new heads-up display to appear. Nothing like a new distraction in the middle of your field of view to make driving more challenging than it already is for most people!

  7. Grumpster, have you thought about integrating an electric drive motor to maybe boost your mileage? Maybe the MPG could be measured in triple digits instead of double digits? This behemoth that I bought only gets 20.9 average over 2500 miles so far, I was expecting much closer to 30. If I mount a Bird Scooter to the back trailer hitch would it be able to push the truck along do you think?

  8. There are stainless braided brake lines available from StopTech. I am in the process of installing the StopTech brake lines, in addition to the Baer sport rotors and Baer sport pads for both front and rear.

  11. I find that most of you have nothing better to do with your time than complain about things like a backup camera which serves the purpose of lining up with a trailer and providing a view of what you normally wont see in your mirrors. If you want to watch a 4k video of you reversing your truck well you probably have deeper issues. Get over it the camera in the 15 and 18 do the job they are supposed at least that has been my experience.

  12. The vibration is in the aluminum driveshaft. I replaced mine in my 2017 LTZ 2WD with a steel two piece rated for a 3/4 ton truck. My truck has been smooth as silk at all speeds ever since. I'm approaching 10,000 miles on the driveshaft. Cost was under $800 from Performance Drivelines. Look them up and leave the Chevy Shake behind!

  13. Same here. Label off, Boot up. I drove around a while with them Boot down and no difference in ride or handling. Boot up looks better and makes more sense.

  14. I use it mainly as a fast cleaner - nothing takes stubborn crap off faster than MEK, aside from FIRE, lol. I also use it to rejuvenate my 20-40 year old touch-up paint tubes from time to time, when they dry out and become like molasses. Works great along the same lines with rubber cement for tire patches as well - those cans get left open longer than they should.

  15. It's the YI smart camera. I got it off of Amazon.ca, I paid $90cdn for it. It has 60fps at 1080p and has driving alerts built in. Don't think I'll use the driving alerts but they are there. Both lane keep alert and forward collision alert. So far it's good.

  16. Installed a dash cam today. Took all of 5 mins, came with a USB, so I plugged it into the USB in the glovebox after running the cable behind the trim and dash.

  17. So what do you use the MEK for? I use it at work to flush my paint lines and gun.

  18. No way in hell I'll go for a '19. That said, when the time comes to replace my '16 shaker I'll do in depth research before buying, which I did not do before buying my '16. 90% of the trucks I've had in the past 40 or so years have been GMs. All but my current '16 were either trouble free or fixable. Yeah I know, every brand has its issues and prolly every manufacturer might or will try and wiggle out of a warranty fix. But GM has basically said flat out go fark yourself.

  21. Sorry to hear about your sister, can't imagine going through that. Regarding the gps...I haven't tried google maps, I'm not sure if I can with the iPhone using my cell server (Verizon). I'll have to check. I do use waze; it will sometimes have you detour off your route to save only minutes, which I find can be a real pain. For the most part I trust it enough to not do what the gps on the truck will do. I have been using the truck gps on shorter/more familiar areas, to kind of get a sense on what it wants to do. My overall impression is that it is kind of numb...no intuition to avoid any obvious trouble spots. And it is slow to change a route. I'll have to see if it has settings that can improve it for what I'd prefer (less traffic, not always the shortest route, quicker adjustments). I'm not holding my breath...and I'm not exactly looking for perfection here, I'd be happy if it could do what waze does. Then again I could try the Apple play on the car and maybe try using waze through the navigation screen.

  22. Just got mine done. No drilling or cutting required. Hooked them up to the trailer fuse #15 in the X50a fuse box with an add a circuit. Very happy!

  23. you can reset your oil life through the DIC. Go to the page displaying oil life, and hit the right arrow on the steering wheel. I’ve been pressing the ole gas pedal the last 3.5+ years I’ve had the truck to reset it, until today lol! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  27. One of the issues I had was the studs would not fit into holes. You are supposed to press them but I couldn't even get passed the threads.so I drilled them larger then pressed them. The other issue was the supplied lower rack bolt was supposed to be 140 mm, but it was 160 mm so made a spacer. The only other issue was tightening the diff. The bolts were impossible to get to. Doing this on the ground was not fun. I worked 18yrs as a flat rate mechanic and still have all my tools. You have to do a good amount of cutting. The job is not for the faint of heart because you are cutting up your brand new truck.

  28. Clears my 275/65r 20 tires easy. No rubbing. Fender height is now 43 1/4 inches front and 45 3/4 rear. I have an add a leaf in the rear I like rake perfect level looks nose high to me.my stock measurements were 36.0 f and 38.5 rear. So this is really a 6 inch lift 1 inch us tires.
