  1. They are also quieter on gravel roads with the liners installed. GMC they are standard on all trims except the base Sierra. On Chev they are standard on LTZ and HC, available in bed protection package on 1LT, RST and LT TB. $150 thru GM accessories at your favorite dealer. https://accessories.chevrolet.com/product/rear-wheelhousing-liner-set-84263801?year=2021&make=Chevrolet&model=Silverado 1500&modelId=491&body=Crew Cab Pickup&bodyId=22&wheel=Standard Box&wheelId=652&trim=Custom Trail Boss&trimId=5100&drive=4WD&driveId=8&engine=5.3L V8 GAS&engineId=2059&bodyNumDoors=5&categoryId=98009

I've got about 5000 miles since last filling the tank, and its still half full -- so I could add about 2.5 gallons. (so about $10 per 5000 miles..) I'm one of those that hand checks every tank of fuel (carryover from the fuel crisis in the '70's...) Last 5.3 I ran was a '16 that most tankful's ran between 20 and 21 usmpg. With similar usage this 3.0L is giving 27-28 mpg tankful averages. 'Here', diesel and regular usually run about the same cost here. (Currently diesel is running 8 - 10% less than regular at most stations. I don't expect this to last) It would be good to understand the diesel/regular taxation/pricing in the area where the fuel will be purchased. With my usage, it looks like the OLM will be recommending oil changes at about the same number of miles as the 5.3. As they say, YMMV (and, of course, it will depend on how it is being used)
  3. You'll get lots of opinions. Mine is that variation is the key. Different speeds, different acceleration rates. Don't forget the process is also for the rest of the powertrain, including the brakes. 3.0L Diesel OM supplement doesn't add anything to the regular OM regarding break-in. OM says: The vehicle does not need an elaborate break-in. But it will perform better in the long run if you follow these guidelines: . Keep the vehicle speed at 88 km/h (55 mph) or less for the first 805 km (500 mi). . Do not drive at any one constant speed, fast or slow, for the first 805 km (500 mi). Do not make full-throttle starts. Avoid downshifting to brake or slow the vehicle. . Avoid making hard stops for the first 322 km (200 mi) or so. During this time the new brake linings are not yet broken in. Hard stops with new linings can mean premature wear and earlier replacement. Follow this breaking-in guideline every time you get new brake linings. . Do not tow a trailer during break-in. See Trailer Towing 0 291 for the trailer towing capabilities of the vehicle and more information. Following break-in, engine speed and load can be gradually increased. Both manuals can be downloaded from GM's website if you want an electronic copy.
  4. All together now. 'Mid cycle enhancement' ....
  5. Like I said, why would I believe amsoil?? They play this same game with the allision transmission oils. Fine example of pyramid marketing.
  6. Still doesn't say it has the approval, just says that's where they would use it. The Dexos approvals site has been updated. Link to the page for DeosD approvals https://www.gmdexos.com/brands/dexosd/index.html
  7. Prior to the T1's the issue was the def tank for diesels which was under the passenger.
  8. I'd be telling the sales guy that his sleazy tactic of 'forced options' was 'forcing' me to find a truck somewhere else. After pointing out that what they were doing was no different than getting to the paperwork stage and then saying 'oh ya, we forgot to mention that it has a sunroof that will cost you extra' I'd thank him for his time on my way out. The vehicle market won't always be tight, and the current purchase isn't likely to be the only one.
  9. Supply has never recovered from last springs drawdown when they weren't building -- even though they have been running overtime in truck plants (at least a Flint, where the HD's are made). Sales levels (for pickups) remain very strong. Trade values remain strong too -- since they are also in short supply. Good to see that supply and demand is still 'a thing'.
  10. Just reduce the amount over the speed limit that the truck is run.
  11. Ever had a new windshield? Added tint to top of windshield? Regardless, sounds like calibration of sensor ahead of mirror might be required
  12. With keyed vehicles - shut it off, get out, lock the door, and use the remote to restart it. With keyless fob - leave it running and get out, fob required to lock door. (I guess so it knows you have the fob and aren't locking yourself out) On mine (it's a 1500, but this type of stuff usually the same), the button on door won't lock it with the engine running and fog in pocket -- even though the button will lock it if the engine is off. I have no idea what it does if the GM accessory number pad is added.
  13. If you repeat the picture showing both sides does it only show on one light?
  14. Yes. 8 to 10 mpg 'less than expected' for current; driving conditions. Lasts about 20 minutes. Is the truck fairly new/low miles? Typically the smell part disappears after the first few regens. On a higher mileage one it is possible that there is a fuel leaking from the regen circuit that is resulting in the smell.
  15. Any chance it's just the angle the strip is being viewed from relative to the centreline of the leds in the strip?
  16. Yes, in personalization menu you can set it so they don't unlock when it is put into park. You cannot turn off the auto lock. Auto Door Unlock This setting allows selection of which doors will automatically unlock when the vehicle is shifted into P (Park). Touch Off, All Doors, or Driver Door.
  17. Relative prices for fuel types depend on the area (and maybe just the tax setup in the area). 'Here', regular and diesel are similarly priced. Some stations have diesel a little higher, some stations have regular a little higher. All stations have premium a lot higher. Nationally, the def price is about the same price per gallon as diesel, but usage is about 1 or 2% of fuel usage. For guesstimate comparisons, add 1.5% to the assumed cost of diesel to account for the def.
  18. For 1500's, the AT4 and both Trail Bosses (custom and LT) have a 2" factory lift. Earlier posts about tires sizes being similar because of lower sidewall on tires used on the larger rim sizes can be extimated from tire code - or looked up with on of the tire comparision tools. Some of the factory tires used for 2021: 275/50R22SL 275/60R20SL 265/65R18SL 265/70R17 Calculating overall size -- https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=7 Or use calculator -- https://tiresize.com/comparison/ Which will show that the factory 22" at 32.8" is a little smaller that the factory 20" at 33.0" Both are 275 mm wide, which is 275/25.4 = 10.8' wide
  19. Yes. Placebo effect. The OTA updates are infotainment system only.
  20. They call that 'Terrain Mode'. Manual has a couple pages of explanations about how it works / what it does. Some of the functions depend on what gear is selected.
  21. Imho you're overthinking it. Yes it's too much to ask. If a problem gets a bulletin with solution (like the leak bulletin), it's also implemented at the plant. The burn off smell that may happen at first few regens isn't a sign of a leak. Enjoy the new truck!
  22. Revision C of the bulletin was published a couple weeks ago. https://www.gmupfitter.com/files/media/photo/1541/UI Bulletin 153c.pdf
  23. I don't think crystallization inside the tank is going to be an issue. Imho, wait for the 1000 mile to empty warning, and/or the 300 mile to empty warnings, and then add some. The countdown for speed limiting doesn't start till it's reaches empty -- and the first warning is 500 miles to 65 mph. Lots of time from the first 1000 mile to empty warning to get def. When I ran an LML my location didn't have a convenient bulk def nearby. Most others reported that the tank would hold 2 of the 2.5 gallons jugs when the truck gave the 300 mile warning. Mine wouldn't take all of the second jug. Meant managing a part jug and remember to later add the balance of the second jug later. Switching to buying/adding one jug at a time made it simpler. Did that for a bunch of years without 'crystallization' from a part full tank.
  24. If the level is detected the same way as in the LML def tank, then it's not a float -- it's a series of pin sensors, and a bunch of software to estimate the level between the sensors as well as to prevent the display from jumping around when the def sloshes.
