  1. HELLOOO!!!!!! Why is so hard for everyone to believe that the vast majority of service writers are idiots. They are! There are lots of U codes that will not set an ECM code turning on the SES light.
  2. The cable toching is no longer recommended because of potential voltage spike. Too many sensitive modules. You can do a similar process though. Disconect both cables and use a test light to connect the cables. A test light with an actual light bulb. The touching just speeds up the process of draining the modules. Not required though. If you have time, just disconnect the neg cable and walk away for awhile. Overnight would be great.
  3. Fuse 23 may be listed as ABS because it also runs that. Make sure the key is OFF when you pull the fuse.
  4. Right side IP fuse box. Fuse #F23DR. 10A Pull it and leave it out for a couple of minutes. Reinstall ( a good one ) and try. You might get lucky. Onstar is notorious for what GM calls logic lockup. If it is an antenna issue it wouldn't affect bluetooth.
  5. Here ya go. illuminated sills.pdf
  6. Yea, you need to convert it to a different format and specific display size. There are free versions of software to do it but it's been so long I can't remember. Search the site. There have been long discussions on this topic.
  7. What year is your truck. My '14 would play video. I think my '15 played it also. My '18 does not. They removed the function.
  8. 4 hours is nuts. I've installed multiple sets on '14 - '18s. The process is only slightly different than the last gen. GM warranty time pays 1.0hr. So double that should be about right.
  9. Try this. X500 15 kb lt ft.pdf
  10. Welcome to the new era of warranty. GM decides and there is nothing the dealer can do. Seat covers, wheels and outside mirrors all require pre-approval from GM.
  11. If it is an IO5 or IO6 radio, you need an HMI module and programming. Three pieces, radio, screen and hmi mod. Plus cabling. You can send the radio and hmi out to get programmed. It's just that dealers are unable to do it. Search this site. There are lots of discussions on this topic. Including contact info for programming.
  12. If that's an 8" screen which it looks like it is, you need an HMI module. And programming a dealer cannot do.
  13. The dealer is eating it. Rental Vehicle-Brand: GM requires the rental vehicle provided to the customer be a GM model. The model year of the GM vehicle must be current or within the past (1) model year. Every attempt should be made to provide the same make/model of vehicle that the customer owns. If the same make/model is not available, it is recommended that the customer's needs be filled by the same class of vehicle (ie: an SUV for an SUV). If this is not possible, other GM brands are acceptable, including upgrades to higher class vehicles including Cadillac
  14. Would I be correct in assuming these are trucks have "start/stop". I ask because the starters on these are more complicated than a conventional starter. They use 2 "solenoids" to run the starter. 1 to engage the drive into the flywheel and 1 to run the armature/motor.
  15. A video of it not starting is of no use to the dealer or GM. It's not that they don't believe you but they cannot duplicate the concern. Watching it not start isn't any help diagnosing the issue.
  16. I'm not doubting your experience but I have never experienced GM asking for an oil sample in 36 years working in a dealer. But I will say that warranty requirements are changing rapidly. And NOT for the tech's or the customer.
  17. The dealer can"t possibly tell the difference between a "0" and a "5" weight oil.
  18. 2019 kit comes with fob's and a code for programming. No wiring required. Dealer has to program.
  19. Craftsman is a Stanley/Black and Decker company. Also own Mac tools.
  20. Did they start an oil consumption test? 1qt is not "normal" but considered "acceptable" by GM. Not much you can do if it uses less than a quart in 1k except maybe find another dealer willing to work with you. Bend the rules a bit.
  21. Most of the brands are OK for a DIY'r. Mine are mostly Snap On, Mac and OLD Craftsman. Newer Craftsman are not nearly as good as the older ones. A lot of the time you will find that the socket wall on cheaper sockets will be much thicker because of cheaper steel. OK except it creates problems fitting in tight spaces.
  22. And here is where the problem starts
  23. Per instructions Note: The cost of re-programming is included in the cost of this kit. The dealer is instructed to charge the reflash to Labor Code 0601558.
