  1. Well isn't that just great so it's not just a cold weather issue? I'm at the beach now and plan to take the truck out onto the beach at some point this week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I'm sorry you're right I WAS getting the lines crossed in the picture. I thought the bridge hose was connecting to the clean side separator but I see now that it's turning down to the valley cover. My apologies.
  3. Something doesn't look right about this set up man. I don't think you're supposed to use all of the ports on the monster can unless you have a turbo...one of the side/edge ports should be capped off. The clean side separator should be connected to your intake tube that you currently have connected to the catch can. The hose running from the passenger side valley cover to the clean side separator should be connected to the diver side valley cover (like you're bridging the valley covers together) and the clean side separator should have a hose connecting it to the intake tube. That's my understanding anyway of how all of this is supposed to work.
  4. Yeah mine is 95% fixed as well. The front is solid as a rock but I can hear and feel it shifting from the back of the seat bottom. I guess they don't put any retainers there with this fix. But they definitely fixed the worst part which was the front shifting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. How many ounces is it? I'me getting about 6 oz of oil/water every 600-700 miles in the winter and about 2-2.5 oz of oil only every 1,500 miles in the summer. I have an RX catch can.
  6. Completely normal and this is due to the weather. In the winter time there is more condensation being caught in the can and in the summer time this condensation decreases. The amount of oil being caught is likely constant year round assuming all other parameters besides the outside temperature remain the same. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. This is the stuff you need: https://www.daubertchemical.com/store/product-list/corrosion-prevention/nox-rust-x-121b I bought a can but haven't had a chance to spray it on the truck yet.
  8. I'm running a catch can and doing the BG induction service every 15k miles but I'm not having the dealer do it. I have a mechanic with his own shop that I take all my vehicles to. But yeah a catch can will help a lot but you can't stop 100% of everything getting through and dirtying up your engine so an induction service is necessary to truly keep the valves clean. 9. I was thinking it's that top hose toward the back of the engine. It looks like the port on the right is the intake into the valley cover. But I can't tell if the other end of the hose is coming out of a catch can or oil/water seperator of some sort or if it's coming straight out of the crankcase port. The article isn't very clear about what this engineer actually did to the engine. He could have just made that mod to the clean side lines. Or not. They don't explain it very well...
  10. Could be plant related. Or the change I'm speculating about happened after 2010. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. A coworker's 2013 Suburban's frame looks like garbage as well. My 2007 Silverado, after 7 years before I sold it, still looked very good. So somewhere between 2007 and 2013 there was a change either to the wax coating product, or the frame prep process, or something. But the severe rust issues don't seem to be new and unique to the K2 trucks.
  12. Depends on the station. This information shows up on mine from the local FM station I listen to. Not all of the local stations broadcast this information though.
  13. What do you mean programmed by music type? Like put similar music style stations next to each other? I'm like you though I use the steering wheel buttons to change stations if I'm not streaming something through my iPhone. I hate the touchscreen on these trucks. If it weren't for the backup camera, I would have pulled this head unit out and put in an after market stereo system.
  14. I posted earlier in the thread that I've been buying Shell 89 exclusively for a while now. However my wife and I just recently got a Sam's Club membership and I can get 93 from Sam's club for less than I get 89 from Shell. Only thing is Sam's gas isn't Top Tier. Any thoughts or recommendations? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. A grand? 4 Bilstein shocks should run you around $300-$350 in materials. If you pay someone to install them it's about another$350. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Yeah I live in Virginia and knowing what I know now the Monster Can would have been better for me. I was draining about 6 oz of oil/water every 650-750 miles in the winter so there's no way I could ever last an entire oil change interval. For the money though, I would say don't worry just use the can you have since it's cheaper and drain it more often in the winter. Once the temperature gets warmer outside the volume of fluid the can catches drops dramatically. I'm wondering why they re-designed the bracket and check valve?
  17. I tried to bore scope mine but couldn't because the way the intake is designed, there's no way to get a bore scope in there to see the valves. You have to remove the valley cover to see the valves and I wasn't about to do that on my engine having only 14,900 miles at the time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. This is why it doesn't really matter where you mount it in your engine bay to try to take advantage of cooler spots. The internal temperature of the can will still get as hot as the oil temp and crankcase gases that it's mostly a futile effort to try to locate it in cool zones. The theory makes sense though, it's the execution that doesn't. I could see if you built some type of refrigeration box for the can that tries to dramatically cool it down, that might make a difference in what the can catches.
  19. Well after about a week of driving it, I'd say the seat is 99% fixed. If I take a hard left turn and really put some weight into the seat in the direction toward the driver door I can feel and hear a very slight pop. Basically it feels like the seat wants to move but the fix ties it down in place really really hard and good.....but it feels "tied down" as opposed to feeling like a solid seat. If that makes sense. Overall, I'm happy as long as it doesn't loosen up and get worse.
  20. I'm finding some oil wet spots around the check valve of my RX catch can which tells me my side mechanic was correct, a catch can will not catch 100% of everything. I noticed it after switching to full synthetic. My guess is the little bit of oil left in the gases exiting the can is hitting the check valve and a small amount is condensing over time and settling in the bottom of the valve. My bottom line conclusion: A catch can will not solve valve build-up 100% but it will no doubt help cut it down and make your engine run better since it's not compensating for the oil and moisture in the crankcase gases. However, we still should get a BG induction service performed once every 15,000 miles to keep things nice in clean for the long term. Of course if you plan on getting rid of your truck at or before approximately 100,000 miles, you probably can skip all of this and just drive it without a worry and eventually unload it.
  21. A guy on that F150 forum wrote: "it is def some type of vibration related issue. I really noticed it the other day going down the interstate and there was a Harley in front of me and I could feel the bikes exhaust thru the pedal. Like how it is mounted to the firewall allows for the vibration to travel to the pedal. It is annoying on longer trips." I posted nearly the same thing on this forum about my Silverado. It's a symptom of these thinner bodied trucks I guess as manufacturers try to cut weight.
  22. I seriously never had an issue with V4 and exhaust sound on my 2007. I loved the way the exhaust sounded on that truck actually. I want to change my exhaust to be exactly like that system so I guess I just need to remove the flapper valve and the resonator. I don't really care about the 3rd cat. For the guys that clamped their valves open and then got a helicopter type sound, I'm wondering if that sound is from the air passing around the flapper in it's open state and if the flapper wasn't there, the air flow would be more smooth and eliminate that sound?
  23. I'm anxious to hear your results on holding the flapper valve open. I've been wanting to remove mine completely but may just bolt it open for now to save time/money taking it into a shop.
  24. Yep just save the stock PCV line that's removed during the install. I saved mine so I could return it to stock if I wanted to.
  25. Well got my truck back this morning....so far so good! They installed those retainer clips discussed recently in this thread and greased up a pivot point on the seat whatever that means. So far, solid as a rock. We'll see if this holds up over time.
