  1. He was certain it was locked. there was an outside plastic chrome door handle left on the ground where it was pared. I think a Tundra was also jacked.
  2. A coworker and I both bought trucks about mid-May last year. I bought a HD2500 and he bought the 1500 Duramax. We were both in Houston this week for training and his (still new to him) got jacked from the hotel parking lot Thursday morning. His OnStar started sending him alerts around 4am of malfunctions for multiple systems. The Police viewed the hotel security footage and stated 2 individuals rolled up at 3:56am, both climbed out and while once went under the front end (The Police stated to supposedly cut the horn wires) while the other entered the cab. They rolled out with his truck at 4:01am (5 minutes) later. Let it be known that I despise frick'n thieves...
  3. To each his own. When i was shopping for a new truck the wheels made it a go or no go. It resembles the top side of a crane's grabber claw in a scrap metal yard.
  4. True, my company truck is a '21 RAM 2500 gas and i can make a round trip from Abilene to Dallas typically averaging 17-18 mpg. On my last trip in a head wind i averaged 13-14 mpg. I had never imagined that big of a change in fuel mileage.
  5. I've always been leery of running too far below the manufactures recommended pressure. Firestone claimed the massive tire failures in the nineties was attributed to running underinflated tires at high speeds and was the cause of over 200 deaths. It wasn't the root cause but was deemed a contributing factor.
  6. I used to be pro DeWalt but didn't like the short serviceable life of their batteries so I now have a full compliment of Milwaukee battery and corded tools. BTW, the 1/2" Fuel High Torque Impact is awesome. I still have and use a Dewalt 20V tire inflator and it works well although a little slow to top off my truck during seasonal pressure changes, but is great for my trailer tires and lawn equipment.
  7. Thanks for the replies. I checked the GM internet parts sites and they average $230-$260 shipped. For the quality of the DZ (part number DZ87022) I think I'll wait it out a little longer and hope that they become available.
  8. I had a Dee Zee bed mat in my 1500 and loved it. I have been waiting on them to become available off of backorder since last May. What are you guys using if you are?
  9. Hope he comes through. Years ago, my wife and I had just took delivery on her new '85 Z28. It was about 2 weeks old and hadn't even made the first payment on it. We were attending a Rod Run in Gatlinburg, TN and I had just took the T-tops off in preparation to go out for the night. I had stepped in the room for about 5 minutes and as we were getting in the car I saw a smoldering cigarette in the drivers seat that had already burned a hole in the fabric. We were on the ground floor and some older folks were above us on the second floor drinking, smoking, and hanging out on the walkway. I said something to them and they originally tried to deny it. So he comes downstairs and I asked what brand he smoked. He pulled his cigarette pack from his shirt pocket to show me and it was the same brand as the one that burned my seat. I'm mad and he's still in denial and I threatened to call the police. I guess because he was nearly drunk he didn't want to get the police involved, so he said he'd take care of it. I told him that my father owned a paint, body & upholstery shop that I'd cut him some slack and replace the seat cover with no labor cost if he would pay for the seat cover. We exchanged information and I was able to figure out what vehicle he was driving so I wrote down his license plate number. We got up the next morning and his car was gone. I went to the office and they said he'd checked out earlier. I cross checked the information he provided me against the information he registered with. It matched so I was satisfied. We returned home, I checked the price and ordered a new cover. I notified him of the cost and he said that he would put a check in the mail that day and I should get it in a couple of days. Well... this went on for about a month after weekly phone calls. Each time we spoke (I was calling his business number and it was before caller ID). He kept assuring me that he'd sent the check. Finally, about 4 weeks later I threatened to file a report with the police department, even if I had to drive the 4 hours to do so in person. Only then did I get the check and I feel had I not threatened to get the police involve he would try to wait me out and see if I gave up.
  10. I put a LoPro on my 1500 and liked it for keeping things clean and dry. However, it didn't have any security features so when leaving a Yeti, equipment, or tools in the back you had to cable them in. I never locked the tailgate so they wouldn't cut my cover. When I bought the 2500 and since it locked the tailgate with the doors I went with the ReTrax MX and absolutely love it. It can be adjusted to nearly anywhere, and is more secure than the vinyl rollups.
  11. My truck has Rough Country boards that are frame mounted. However, I'm looking locally for a set of OEM boards as the Rough Country boards are higher tucked up close to the rocker and they don't extend out as far as the OEM ones. The wife has a hard time getting in and out and prefers the OEM ones that were on my 1500.
  12. My WAG is about $150. out the door. It would be interesting to know so please let us know once you have it done. BTW, I love Charleston, visited there many times...
  13. I'm not all that familiar with it but you can go into the camera app and select the different camera views.
  14. You may need to do a search on this site but It seems that I read you can put a trailer light plug tester in the plug in the bed and it activates anytime you use your turn signals.
  15. Thanks of the tip. That is what I've been doing when necessary.
  16. When I enter the cab the engine hours is displayed. I really am not interested in that and would prefer to see the DEF level. I scrolled through the DIC but didn't see an option to change it. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance!
  17. I have a '21 2500 and ran my DC cable between the top of the windshield and headliner. A couple pieces of foam backer rod keeps the cable from randomly exposing itself. I found the DS fuse block was all constant but on the PS there are several switched terminals so I hooked it up there for both constant and switched.
  18. I have always been in the habit of backing into parking spaces, unless it's laid out as angled spaces. I get peeved at the way people park nowadays, without even making an effort to get centered between the lines or they pull through halfway into the space in front of them, I thought if there was simple one touch to activate the front camera it would be very convenient so as not to go over the line or leave you backend hanging out to get tagged.
  19. I was just wondering what pressures you all are running in your rear tires when not loaded. I was considering backing the rear down to 65 psig for a softer ride instead of the recommended 70 psig when not loaded.
  20. 87 relay is a wonderful part and has many uses.
  21. This is just a WAG, as I'm new to these trucks as well, but I would think there would be a relay to them that may be faulty.
  22. I put the Re-Trax MX Pro on mine for durability and security. I had a LoPro rollup on my 1500 and it served it's purpose well but lacked security. I always left the tailgate unlocked so it wouldn't get cut.
  23. I realize this is an older thread but has anyone came across the best practices to remove some of the dash trim?
  24. I looked at a truck a couple of months ago and it as well had about an $800 adder for exterior paint protection. The salesman told me they do a ceramic coat on every vehicle, BUT if I refused to pay for it, there would be no charge. That I just wouldn't get the 5 year protection warranty.
