  1. My dealer replaced my sr-a at 1000 miles due to flat spots. I requested Michelin's and told them I would pay the difference between the two. It was no problem.
  2. If you like try the clamps about 4 inches in front of the rear axle. I tried the clamps on mine behind the axle and the ride was worst. Have had the clamp in front of the axle for 30k miles.
  3. I did say it was a push from the goverment. Its to cut down on emissions from idling.
  4. The button on the lower center stack with the A and circle around it should cut the feature off, but will have to hit the button every time you restart. All the new 2018 vehicles I have seen have the feature. The 2018 Buick enclave and Chevy traverse have it but no button to turn it off. They have to be driven in manual mode on the trans to disable it. It just another treat from the government. I went back and looked at the 2018 Tundra and there is no mention of start stop tech in the specs. The Tundra is the only truck out for now that doesn't have all this gimmick crap on them. If you want a truck like we use to drive and enjoyed them this is the truck. I know we all curse them for mpgs and being behind in all the tech crap but maybe its all been for a reason. I have had a Tundra and I must say it was a good truck had no problems at all. But I had to have more bells and whistles just like everyone else. To much technology being pushed today. Its all nice but just more to give trouble. Just my thoughts.
  5. I went with the Hypertech Max Energy 2.0 mainly to turn off afm. I also set the throttle response to tow mode a 25% increase and set the cut off speed to 112. I didn't expect much but the 25% increase in throttle response really woke the 5.3 up. I have had no more clucking or kicks in the ass or searching for gears in the trans. Fuel mileage my be down about 1/2 mile per gal.I hated the afm form day one and got tired of driving in manual mode all the time. I'm happy with the performance of the engine and trans now.
  6. I had the vibration between 70 and 80mph with 78 being the worst. I added the spring clamps 4 inches in front of the axle and tightened the axle u bolts. This cured my vibration about 15,000 miles ago. I found the the clamps improved the ride in the rear of my truck. A few days later after installing the clamps I removed them and replaced them behind the axle just to see what the difference would be because at the time the clamps were a new deal we were trying. I didn't get out of my driveway good before I noticed the ride was going to be worst. I drove a few miles and soon as I got home moved the clamps back to front of the axle and has been good every since. Forgot to add I carry about 350lbs with 3 toolboxes in the rear all the time.

  8. Did the driver that hit your truck have insurance. Have your insurance co. sue for a new truck. Or get lawyered up. You can do as stated above trade it in as is and turn insurance over to dealer for repair.
  9. Wait and see what the new 18 Tundra will be. I read there will be one out in a February auto show. Should be some changes.
  10. Looks like one of the bulbs is not seated right. I would check the one on the drivers side first its easy to get to. When I had the update on my truck the drivers side was seated wrong and putting the lights on high beam would not change it any. Just have the lights on when you untwist the the bulb socket that way you can tell when its seated correctly. The grooves for the bulb socket housing are very fine don't force it.
  11. Hello Bill, Let me know what you think about the Sequoia. Thinking about getting one for the wife to replace her Expedition. When ford went to the v6 in the new Expeditions they lost me. I know the highway mpg for the Sequoia is 17 just curious if it will do 17 are any better. The Sequoia is alittle out dated just like the Tundra but they are proven. Thanks
  12. Hello Jesse, Congrats on the truck. The Sirius radio in fords does not sound as good as the chevys because they use XM. Sirius has a streaming sound or a tin sound. I have been through the same thing with the fords. Just wanted to let you know before you try an antenna change. My wifes Expedition is the same way, sounds like crap after listening to mine. You will get use to it with time.
  13. My truck rides the same way. I have 5100s on the front on third setting and stock black shocks on the rear that replaces the ranchos. I have 20 inch tires and I believe thats why I feel every little bump in the road at low speed 20 to 40 in town. Tar strips are the worst. When its times for tires going to look at going to 18s.
  14. I I know some have aluminum control arms, knuckles and some have steel. I was referring to the front suspension parts that control the ride (coil springs) and they are the same other than shocks. All your getting in the Z71 package is rancho shocks, a transfer case shield,hill descent control, high capacity air cleaner and a Z71 badge that was a $430.00 option on my truck. This is the first GM truck I have owned since a 1995 silverado I purchased new and will be the last. I will be moving back to a F150 or Tundra soon.
  15. The only difference with the Z71 suspension vs a regular 4x4 is rancho shocks. If you look up the front suspension parts they are all the same except the shocks.

  17. I talked with a tech at Bilstein today about the 6112. He said it's really going to be a good set up. I asked him how the 6112 compared to the 5100. He said if you use your truck for normal use and some easy not punishing off road the 5100 would be just fine but if you use it hard off road and really heat up the shocks the 6112 would be the best. We talked awhile about the front suspension on the 2014 and up trucks and he said the problem is that it only has 3 inches of wheel travel to work with. This is why its taking so long to get the 6112 tuned right. They had a 2014 Camaro beside a 2014 1500 and the Camaro had more wheel travel than the truck. This is the reason the trucks ride like they do. This explained to me whats really going on with the front suspension and if you add spacers or blocks for lift it just makes it worst by taking away more travel. I was told the spring rate on the 6112 set will be 50lbs less than the stock spring.
  18. When you say the ride is not so jarring is it just alittle better or maybe up to 50% better. Mine is really rough on potholes in town when going about 20mph. Sometimes it bangs the hell out of the front end. I cross a bridge everyday with a high approach and the front ends tops out. This is the only truck I have ever owned that does this. I guess Iam asking do you think the 5100's are worth going to would you do it again. I have been waiting for the 6112 shock and spring package for over a year and a half. I called bilstein a few days ago and said it would be 6 more months which is what I get everytime I call.

  20. I have mine clamped about 4 inches in front of the axle block spacer. This made the ride much better or less harsh in the rear. I moved them to the rear just to see what would happen and made the ride much rougher, so I moved them back to the front.

  22. How do you like to ride with the 4600. I saw in your vid you had the stock black shocks, did you replace the front too. Just curious how the 4600 rides. I have the stock black shocks and the overall ride is pretty good, just a little to bouncy at interstate speeds.
  23. The way this process has been going it will be April of 17 next.
