    Yea, the assist steps act as "snow shoe", they put you right on top of the snow. I buried myself once, but was able to rock the truck out in 4LO with a little bit of patience. Always a good day when a nice person helps someone in need, wish there were more of them out there.

    Yea, it has been years (4 or 5 body styles?) since you could replace individual bulbs on the HVAC controls.

    Pretty sure that has to have a relearn process done. The crankshaft sensor on GMC vehicles is synced to the powertrain control module, or PCM. When the crank sensor is replaced, it must be resynced to the PCM. Without resyncing, the PCM cannot properly determine the position of the crankshaft. The proper procedure for resyncing or relearning the crankshaft position is called the "CKP Variation Learn." The CKP Variation Learn procedure resets the positional information in the PCM's memory and replaces it with updated information from the new crankshaft sensor.

    I would take it in under warranty and have it fixed correctly, will save you a lot of time and guess work.

    Sounds like you were pretty lucky. When the pushrod broke on my 16 in cylinder #4, a piece of it made it's way into the block. The cylinder wall was so scored in the two miles I drove home, that they replaced the whole engine.

    Have the vacuum pump checked as well, another known part to fail on the early K2"s.

    the tires on the Silverado are square and not round? That explains a lot, no wonder there are so many problems with the trucks??

    This part I have no idea, if my memory is correct, don't think there was any way to adjust it. Maybe you can gently "bend" it back straight.

    Yes, you can pull the lid apart, I did so when I replaced my latch with a chrome one from a Tahoe. You will have full access to the wiring loom and be able to see how it "snakes" through the console. Think there are 8 clips, 3 on each side and 2 in front by the latch. Just be careful, use some interior pry tools, you can get a set at an auto parts store for around $20.00, otherwise you can rip the cover's leather like material.

    If you have bucket seats, and the true center console that extends to the dash, it is tucked in the left hinge (closest to driver). It works it's way between the top and bottom of the lid, then is tucked into the hinge arm and disappears into the bottom/back of the console housing. Just take a small screwdriver, or your fingers and you should be able to see how it was out back together.

    Just another guess, how old is your battery in the truck?

    You might want to check, or replace the hood latch switch. The remote start will not work with any issues, factory safety feature. Lots of post on this problem.

    This ^^^^, bad batteries and the new trucks are a very bad relationship. Computers like strong clean power for best performance.

    Traffic not worth the money, hard to use, hard to figure out what is going on, and requires you to play with your radio while driving.

    Yea, emerald green arborvitae do a good job for what you are looking to do. Just have to patient with them, and make sure to prune them when they start growing. Otherwise the snow will beat the crap out of them until they have a good "backbone". Spacing is very helpful, too close and they will die, too far apart and it takes forever for them to fill in. They are a great bush to sculpt, very easy maintenance.

    Completely agree on the new Tahoe, not even sure what kind of cost saving measure that was. I like the factory driving/fog lights, they do a nice job and I use them every time driving at night.

    With more electronics being added, conveniences will disappear, consumers want prices to stay the same with more bells and whistles, something has to give.
