  1. Up to your old tricks again? Where’s a 2011 Silverado that I can buy for 3 grand? GM truck forum and you’re cherry-picking ridiculous depreciation “estimates” out of thin air that wouldn’t even suit an old BMW. Especially in this market.
  2. At least it’s defeatable. There was some talk that it wouldn’t be. And maybe that will still be the case eventually. Not a good idea for a truck used on a jobsite.
  3. Good call, IMO. The minute I no longer needed a 2500, I traded it. For all the reasons listed above.
  4. The individual dealer determines the deposit, but many are taking orders without any $$$ at all. These days, they don’t much care if you take delivery or not. Their lots are empty and someone else will. Maybe even for more than you’d pay. Kind of the new strategy since sold orders often get priority build over dealer stock orders.
  5. Buddy launches and retrieves his Tiara 2900 with a Ram 1500. Weight is ~11,000 plus the triple axle trailer, fuel, and gear. 4 low can be the great equalizer if needed at the ramp. But these half tons are ridiculously capable and 7000 is not going to be any issue for the 6.2.
  6. This particular case sounds like a downgrade. At least in the eyes of most buyers. The 22” polished wheels just suit a Denali better than 20” black wheels.
  7. Yes, I used these for a bit. They looked pretty good for what they were. Obviously a hell of a lot easier and cheaper than replacing all lugnuts but eventually I did that anyway. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CHWGSZZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_JD0HBSVS0WX0D7ES9GKF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
  8. There’s a distinct lack of practicing what one is preaching. Both here and on the world stage. I’m not against cleaner air. But I am against Al Gore and all these other grifters getting rich off their theories while being completely unaffected by their own policies. And I am against making our country miserable and poor while China and India continue to pollute beyond anyone’s comprehension. If the EV transition is to be made, it needs to be done in a manner that won’t make us into a third world country. That means taking it slow. Allow the technology and the grid to catch up to our demands. Let people make their own decision to adopt EVs when they are a compelling alternative without government subsidy or coercion. Jamming gas prices up right now to force working class people onto the bus or into an EV is idiotic and frankly evil. Some of these people can’t afford much more than a $2,000 car. What’s the cheapest EV on Autotrader right now? 30 grand? If they can’t swing that, they should lose their independence and just ride the bus? Does quality of life and freedom not mean anything to anyone?
  9. Just have to trust that they will make good on that if you buy one. $50 isn’t much for the inconvenience either way. Wonder what’s involved in the retrofit. Surely the heating elements will be in the seats and just a controller needed?
  10. I remote start every time. Even if only for 10 seconds, at least it lets the truck idle down before just driving off.
  11. Agreed there is a lot of misinformation. Doesn’t appear as simple as disabling the filter monitor. Sounds like if you wait to turn the monitor off until after the error takes place, there is no way to clear it. My Roto-Fab worked with the filter monitor system, never had to turn it off, so cannot confirm. But if it’s related to the poor design of the K&N system as it seems, just get rid of it. Nobody buys new vehicles to have a bunch of codes all the time.
  12. Swap that K&N for a Roto-Fab if you don’t want to go back to stock. I never once had any messages like that in 2+ years use. Lots of guys have also had no issues with the S&B.
  13. It’s unbelievable around here. A guy applied at my wife’s company and they gave him the job. He showed up and said “I didn’t actually want to work here, I was just applying to get unemployment” He said he didn’t think he would actually get hired, and he left. Very polite anyway. However well intentioned all these policies are (or aren’t), they do not have the desired affect. People are walking from $20 jobs, everything is way more expensive, and Burger King is only open banker’s hours now. Ridiculous.
  14. No way to change it but I will say the sunload sensor has way too much control in the algorithm. Lots of times I would sit in my truck on a cooler sunny day and eat lunch. Start it up and the AC runs overdrive and freezes you out. Wish it was more biased toward the cabin temperature and not the sun. Throw a towel over it and see if it works the heat, or nothing instead.
  15. I’ve been on both sides. For the longest time if you bought a full sized truck “right” new, you could trade every couple years for small money. I just swapped my ‘19 Silverado for very near what I paid 2.5 years ago. Actually had offers for more than I paid but the timing wasn’t right. Unfortunately looking at the big picture, things are changing in the post-Covid supply and inflation world. Deals on new trucks “off the lot” are gonna be hard to come by with the manufacturers pushing custom orders. Also considered this latest push for EVs and realized something like the TRX isn’t going to exist in a couple years. So I took a leap and bought one at MSRP. I’ll likely keep it around forever. As a daily and work truck through the warranty, and as a toy / collectible with some HP modifications after. I’ve been meticulous with maintenance on it thus far for that reason. Catch can from day one. Put Redline oil in the engine and diffs, and will change on shorter intervals. Not going full Grumpy but I feel there are little things I can do to ensure it lasts even when I turn the wick up.
  16. People left their entry level jobs in the past year because they were making more sitting on their butts at home. Not a coincidence that these jobs were added the same month Biden’s $300/wk unemployment enhancement went away. Gas prices are also not a coincidence. We all see it.
  17. Gotta love the dinky credits they give. These are options people used to pay thousands more to get, and there’s GM handing you $250 to not have them.
  18. Well, it’s a dinosaur in the sense that I can’t think of any other pushrod V6 engines still in production. It’s death was inevitable. Everyone can get over the stigma of a 4 banger in a full sized truck with the help of 420lb ft. @ 3000 RPM. It’s just a better performer than the LV3. Hell, it’s probably a smarter choice than even the 5.3 for most people.
  19. Is that even from the tire machine? Almost looks like the dummy just banged the socket into it when removing or re-installing. Get on Google reviews, yelp, Facebook, etc. and tell your story. If not to push them into making you whole, then at least to warn others. Lots of expensive factory wheels coming in finished black now. If these guys handle those like they did yours, the damage would be even more apparent. No excuse for it.
  20. This routine again. Offer it only in a trim nobody wants, and then wonder why it didn't sell...
  21. Convenience Package II was required to get SiriusXM on the LT that year. Which confused and angered a lot of people as I recall. There’s a few aftermarket solutions. https://www.infotainment.com/products/factory-gm-siriusxm-satellite-radio-kit-for-option-code-ior?variant=31905410744356 Also, if your SXM account includes streaming, you can just use your phone instead.
  22. According to the IIHS, they all suck equally. https://www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/chevrolet/silverado-1500-crew-cab-pickup/2021 https://www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/gmc/sierra-1500-extended-cab-pickup/2021
  23. Throw-away microfibers and Simple Green. Or waterless wash solution if it’s a newer vehicle and just dusty. Thought I’d get cute and degrease the engine on my Honda Enduro over at the coin-op back in the day. Couldn’t get it restarted after, and had to walk the thing back home about 8 blocks. That was it for using a hose on any engine. I’m sure a modern vehicle would handle it a little better than a 70s motorcycle but still not worth it to me.
  24. You’ll pay more for the new style. But it’ll also be worth more on the other side. Talking a whole model year newer and with a much more desirable interior vs a lame duck at this point. My 19 was “fine” on the inside, but definitely not impressive for a truck that stickered over 60k (US). Wasn’t everything to me but if I was shopping again the 22 is worth the wait.
