Hey, I’ve been down the rabbit hole for builds. Probably more than most ever will. At this point with a truck new to me I’ve been reconsidering the A. Power addiction problem I have and B. Cost for convenience So, Just curious why people don’t just Whipple from the jump. Approximate #s CAI $400 average long tubes typically run $1,400 (DTC always) needs tune. y pipe w/ cats $1,000 cat back $2,500 L86 intake + TB $350 ($700 ported) Flex fuel kit around $300 tune $650-$1000+ None of this includes install $$ if you’re unable to do yourself. So on the lower side you’ve spent around $6,700 ish. The cost per 1whp is $20.00 on the lowest side. On the, do it for me side it’s upwards of $10k (depending on a shops per hour rate) or $30+ per 1whp brand new whipple kit with tune is around $7,450. Why not spend the extra $750 and put down 450 whp over 320-350? Putting you around $16.00 per 1whp. Just curious.

Have you done anything to the block? Rods, journals, bearings, or pistons? I wouldn’t be pushing it much past 550 WHP. My first L86 spun 3 rod bearings at the high 500’s. Diamond or Gwatney performance makes a great drop in kit to bulletproof your block to 1000 crank. that being said, if you want to push the HP you need to upgrade your low, high side pumps, get a 30% fuel lobe camshaft and drop in the LT4 injectors.
-
It replaces your intake pump (low side). If you want even more flow you can replace your high side pump to a high flow one. You can get these from GM parts direct or any equivalent site. Search a 2018 Corvette fuel pump. Select any trim that has a supercharger. a company called wildhammer.com sells a kit for injectors, pump and fuel line. goturbo.net has the fuel pump for your tank

Denalix's 2014 Sierra 1500 built 7.0 turbo build

Was caught in a nor’easter. 8” of snow on top of ice was not helpful, even in 4 wheel. Truck slid sideways down a hill and I couldn’t get it to turn the corner. Slid right into trees. I was only going approximately 40 mph. trying to buy it back. Waiting on title. -
Swapping in 6.2L throttle body on 5.3L motor

Yes i did. Under vacuum it would pull more HP. Since I’m forced via a Turbo it really doesn’t matter for me. -

Hey guys, So finally got my truck back. Not going to get into the specifics of what's been going on. There are TWO videos on my truck at the following link. I'm focusing on the final dyno video (for now final Dyno, more to come ). Feel free to watch the other {8 minute long one} Ted gives really good advice. FYI** The transmission is not supper happy with the amount of HP/TQ going through it. I will be going back to these guys for a rebuild that can handle the upcoming power goals. Also, in a year or so I will need to rip everything out of the truck since the design isn't optimal, practical or built to last. It was built for a paycheck. That being said.....THIS THING IS AWESOME!!!! .................now. If the link doesn't work here is the url. facebook.com/jannettyracing/videos/491169901779184/ At the end of the day we ended up at 747 whp and 721 tq. When I bring it back we're going to shoot for 1000+. PM if you want more info. -

I’m In New England. It’s the same here. I try to take it inside every night when I get home. I end up going to my local range no-weekly and take a field day once a month to keep them clean. even through difficult gun laws him my state, as long as it’s not in my lap I can keep a number of my SBR’s in my cab. -

Ah copy. I understand. I keep a few go bags too. Especially the KRIS VECTOR (.9mm) under my bench seat. Thank you for your service. I’m retired Navy (medically). You said “Military Medic” Army? you really can’t be too careful these days. Especially with mass shooting nearly every week! -

Beautiful truck!! Out of sheer ignorance, what are these extensive trauma bags for exactly? Are you a first responder or planning on a head on collision with the local track and field team? -

@Denali34 thank you! @kenny_r I hear that. I was hesitant to badge it. I was on the fence for two paths. De-badge or get something unique. The GMC Kodiak is a unique truck trim and not many people swap into a bigger engine. (That I’m aware of). I figured I’d go the unique badging way. I am considering getting all new badges so they’re uniform. -

Here are a couple of quick Videos. A warm start, some driving and a boost gauge video. Once I get the final tuning and tweaking done I will start some more comprehensive videos. Launching, racing etc. Warm Start: Boost Gauge and turbo spooling: Short Driving video: -
I stand by it every time. Wait till Black Friday. Go onto Whipple's website and purchase a Whipple kit w/programer ($5,500). Spend a weekend installing and BAM you have yourself a completely different animal.

100% Sending it to Alex in a couple weeks for final tweaking. Trying to find a shop to build the 6L80E for me. Needs to hold 900+ -
Some folks are brand new to the Truck game. Or brand new to the Truck modding scene. Some are even new to online forums as a resource. Therefore knowing where to start can be tough. Sure, you can just go on google and search "Performance Truck Parts" or specifically your "year/make/model/engine + performance". The problem there is you don't know what you're going to get or how credible. We have a lot of Veteran members here whom have done it to their rides and carry a wealth of knowledge. It was actually a very smart tactic to come in and ask for opinions. I certainly have made 30,000 mistakes with my truck and will certainly voice my opinion for those who want to get more out of their "baby". If you're not aloud to ask questions what's the point of having a "FORUM". *(a place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged)*

Back to the original topic and ask. . . . I know I've said it in dozens of posts. It is much cheaper, safer and more reliable to just SC your truck. Coming from experience you'll easily save $24,000... Here are websites I've used for parts and information getting into the GM Gen V platform. https://www.onallcylinders.com. This is an awesome site to look at specific engines, their specs and some build suggestions. https://www.gmpartsdirect.co/auto-parts/2014/gmc/sierra-1500/denali-trim/6-2l-v8-gas-engine Great for stock parts or some budget friendly upgrades like Injectors, fuel pumps etc. https://www.carid.com/2014-gmc-sierra-denali-accessories/#spb_exterioraccessories Great resource for ALL types of parts for ALL types of vehicles. https://www.jegs.com. and/or https://www.summitracing.com Perfect for sourcing anything stock or aftermarket. I usually purchase my Oil and Meth (Boost Juice) from here. https://www.texas-speed.com pioneers in many GM LS based items. Top or bottom end solutions. https://gwatneyperformance.com Great for some really niche solutions such as true drop in piston/rod combos that will bulletproof your Gen V Block. https://www.briantooleyracing.com Classic resource for cams and fuel management delete kits. https://www.rockauto.com/?a=G rock bottom prices and a good source for replacement parts. Here are some popular power adder websites: http://performancefueled.com/trick-performance-turbo-kits/ trick turbo system https://whipplesuperchargers.com Whipple SC's https://treperformance.com This is the best site I've found for prochargers, upgraded components and price of kits. I'm sure I've missed things, this should be a great springboard for anyone wanting to look into upgrades.

I failed to mention camshafts. Texas speed has 4 different camshafts. SV. Stage 1,2,3. Brian Tooley has a few, Gwatney some etc. these will all require a higher stall torque converter. I’d recommend going 3000 stall since you want big power out of that block therefore a big cam. CircleD has some good stuff.

Hey Buddy, Nice truck! Looks super clean. Take all the comments with a grain of salt. So straight NA! I like it. So you're going to need a few things. Top end and bottom end upgrades. TOP END: I'd start with a Ported Cylinder head/camshaft package W/ AFM,DOD Delete. https://www.texas-speed.com/p-5783-tsp-cnc-ported-gen-5-53l-l83-heads-camshaft-package-outright.aspx https://www.texas-speed.com/p-5443-texas-speed-performance-gen-5-lt1-lt4-l83-l86-dod-delete-kit.aspx Get yourself a BIG intake manifold and throttle body. https://gwatneyperformance.com/product/msd-atomic-airforce-lt1-intake-manifold-2700/. (get ported if you can afford the extra cash) https://gwatneyperformance.com/product/katech-103mm-throttle-body-gen-5-lt1-lt4-lt5/ CAI https://afepower.com/afe-power-54-74104-momentum-gt-pro-5r-cold-air-intake-system BOTTOM END: If you're seeking more than 600 wheel you will need to beef up the rods/pistons/bearings. https://gwatneyperformance.com/product/gpi-complete-gen-5-l83-5-3l-drop-in-piston-connecting-rod-package-14-19-silverado-sierra-tahoe-yukon/#configuration FUEL: High side fuel pump, middle fuel pipe and injectors. https://goturbo.net/arm-high-pressure-armageddon-high-pressure-fuel-system-upgrade Low Side pump if you can stomach the cost. https://goturbo.net/arm-465fp-ext-armageddon-465lph-lift-pump-2014-2018-extended-double-cab-chevy-silverado-gmc-sierra Meth Kit to get you over the hump. https://www.rallysportdirect.com/part/water-and-meth-injection-kits/310-brd-snow-performance-stage-3-boost-cooler-efi-2d-map-progressive-water-methanol-injection-kit?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8_bvydne5gIVTP_jBx34ogrGEAQYAyABEgKBJfD_BwE EXHAUST: If you live in a state with emissions testing. https://afepower.com/afe-power-48-44003-twisted-steel-headers If you're not in a state that requires emission: http://arh.lmperformance.com/shop.asp?brand=american-racing-headers&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIn4Kdmdre5gIVx8DACh1-OwkhEAAYASAAEgL-v_D_BwE This should get you started. OH, you could always just get a Whipple with a tune and get 560 wheel on your own for $6.5K The former list will cost you 15k+ parts maybe $17k parts/labor. Happy trails.

Eh, go to Texas Speed and Performance and buy a Gen V re-sleeved 6.2 with a total displacement of 7.0L. Grab some of their proprietary forged internals. It will handle any and all “the fun” you can throw at it. or you can buy my spare 6.2L with diamond pistons. Just needs new rod bearings. That’s way cheaper. ?

He has a pretty sweet set up at his home. I picked up the Denali there. I still need to Schedule time with Alex if he's not in the air. I'm still running on the 6.2 tune and need to get a new one for the 7.0

Went ahead and got some new badges. Took me a few months to land on these. I know displaying engine size can be *insert comment here* but I wanted to show off a little bit. Also, I know it appears like then Kodiak is crooked, I'm in an awkward position against a wall. I'll have to take a better picture tomorrow when it's light out. What do you think? -
@ShortyMatt How's the ole girl running these days? You get the cam in there yet?

Okay, after 11 months of agonizing mishaps, set backs and over all triumph, I figured it was time to immortalize my truck in a new post. Please welcome my 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 7.0 (427) Turbo Build! I need to get the final tune with the new block. Still runs very well on the old 6.2 tune however, going up to 7.0 adds a layer of goofy on vacuum or under boost.. Next steps Get the PATC Stage 4 transmission kit stuffed into my 6L80E and retune to 900+ whp! Hoping to have that underway around March! Let me know what you all think. Ask any question. I'm open to where I purchased parts, cost of build etc. especially my opinion getting into a build like this.
