  1. My trucks going in for open heart surgery in a month. DOD delete, tsp stage 2 L83/5.3 cam in my L86/6.2. I eventually would love to put a blower on it. I drive the truck frequently and don’t want to do too big of a cam where I’ll have to change my torque converter. Will I get away with a L83 stage 3 cam with my stock converter or should I stick to the stage 2. Specs are 5.3L Stage 2 Camshaft w/ +32% Fuel Lobe: 218/226, 635", 113 LSA, 109 ICL All my mods will be intake, portable TB, (hopefully have my heads ported when it goes in for dod delete and cam) LT4 injectors, 1-7/8 long tube hears, off-road y-pipe. I’ll have a 3.5” electric cut out followed by stock exhaust for now. Trucks reverse level and blocks removed. 22x12 -51 285/35r22 no trimming or cutting
  2. Welcome to my build! Started with a 2019 Silverado 1500 LTZ 4wd 5.3L, which I bought with 9k miles on her in August of 2020. Got a crazy good deal on it, justified me driving to Georgia from Houston to pick it up. It even came with the Ranch Hand front bumper on it already, other than that she was stock. Little bit of background on my past trucks, I've been fortunate to own quite a few: 07 JK Wrangler, 08 Silverado 1500 LT Z71, 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT Z71, 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT w/ 6.2L, 2016 Denali 2500 Duramax, 2017 Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71, and finally my 2019 Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71. I also have my 2015 ZL1 Camaro for a little bit of fun on the side, my wife has gone off to German side and is rocking her Porsche Cayenne. So here's the current list of mods: 4" Zone Lift kit w/ Fox rear shocks 35x11.50's Nitto Terra Grapplers on stock 20's Front and back Ranch Hand bumpers Hooker Blackheart Cat-back exhaust utilizing factory dual tips K&N Series 63 cold air intake Rough Country Automatic drop down steps Camlocker Tool box Front windows tinted to match back factory tint Front windshield tint strip Chevy All-Weather floor liners Stubby antenna Just went on a shopping spree of sorts and this is what I've got on order: Boost auto parts auto fog mod Putco Blade LED Tailgate Light Bar w/ Putco wiring harness All LED bulbs; replacing turn signals, license plate lights, and reverse lights. And the GRAND finale, King 2.5 PRS coilovers The list of things to come in the near future: High Country cluster from White Audio and Media, had their Tahoe cluster in my 2017 and it was fantastic! Waiting to order the rear King Resi PRS shocks until my checkbook bounces back a little bit. Lol Going to be putting on several LED light bars and maybe a pod or two, going to do my best to blend them into the Ranch Hands and make them as non conspicuous as possible. I'm strongly considering doing a Dyno tune w/ Kooks long tubes as well. Going to be doing ceramic tint all the way around. Limo on back windows and back glass, 15% on front windows, and 35% on the front windshield. I've got a drop in plastic bed liner that drives me crazy, so I'll more than likely go ahead and get the bed sprayed. Things I'm considering: Looking into changing up the rims and trying to clear 37's when the time comes for new tires. Blacking out the badges? Still not sold on this one... Turbo or a supercharger kit? This one would be way down the line though. Anything else that catches my attention, let me know if you can come up with anything! Here is the truck from stock:
  3. Hey all, I'm back in a Chevy finally! I come from the prerunner/ high speed offroad side of things and have been building, buying, and selling a few dedicated offroad toys recently. Decided to take a break and finally got back into a Silverado and I love it so far. Thought I'd take the time to share with you my experience during these past 3 weeks of owning a 2018 Silverado. I picked up a 2wd LT 5.3L crew cab in white and the parts ordering began immediately! Of course, I had to have the aggressive offroad look so I went with the following parts: 35" BF Goodrich KM3 M/T Tires 17" Method NV Wheels King 3.0 Coilovers w/ Adjusters King 2.5 Rear Shocks w/ Adjusters Icon Uni-ball Upper Control Arms Cutting for the 35" tires proved to be quite a task since I wanted to make sure there was no contact at full bump and full lock. Although the suspension hadn't shown up, I still had to throw the new wheels and tires on! 35s on a stock Silverado just looks hilarious! TO BE CONTINUED BELOW:
  4. Ok so I have a 1983 gmc 1/2 ton that I'm wanting to build but I have some issues with rust in the windshield channel and I'm not entirely sure how I should go about repairing it.
  5. Has anyone installed a water/methanol inject kit on any of the small blocks (2014-2018)? I personally have the LV3 4.3L V6. Looking to eliminate the carbon build up, caused by direct injection, on the intake valves. Right now I'm trusting that Sea Foam is doing the job every 30k miles. EDIT* I'm also interested in the increased performance after tuning. I am aware that a catch can would eliminate the majority of carbon build up on the valves.
  6. Hey All, New to the forum. Few questions. There is a truck I am interested in and unfortunately I cannot rely on the sales person. Here are the build details from the sticker. What I am curious about is, is this trailering package also known as the "Max Towing Package" ? Reason I ask is the hitch is a GM V-5 which is rated at 12,000/1,200. The owners manual also says the following... 1500 4x4 crew cab short bed 5.3L V8 - 3.42 - MTW 9,100 - GCWR 15,000 5.3L V8 with 8-speed Auto and Enhanced Towing package - 3.42 - MTW 10,700 - GCWR 16,700 5.3L V8 - 3.73 - MTW 10,700 - GCWR 16,700 What I am ultimately trying to do is figure out what this truck will ultimately haul and what its max towing capacity will be. I cannot tell by the build. So I would appreciate any insight/info. The manual says a few things, the door jam says another, and I want to be sure. Build details 2018 - 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 - Z71 - short bed All star package 18" P265/65R18 allterrain, blackwall tires 3.42 rear axle ratio (But not sure if this one has 3.73 due to the trailering package. 7. Well guys, it finally happened with the 2019's coming out and all these dealers trying to move their new and used 18's I broke down and upgraded my 2014 GMC 1500 to a Certified 2018 Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 w/ only 2700 miles! I am pretty excited about it, she's bone stock and she won't last that way for long. Going from 35's to stocks is going to be quite the transition at first, but don't fret! There are changes coming soon and I figured I would track my build right here, hope y'all will enjoy! It already started yesterday as I did some research and discovered my K & N cai will fit on the 2018, so I pulled that off and put the stock intake back on, also took the hidden light bar out of the grill, and of course took my good ole trusty tool box off (this will be truck number 5 for the tool box!). I placed an order just a few minutes ago and there are more goodies coming soon! Please let me know if y'all have any comments, ideas, or questions!

  9. So I figured it was finally time for me to start one of these build posts. I appreciate peoples input and ideas, so feel free to comment and tell me if you have a suggestion. I can't wait complete my build, but is a build ever really complete? Haha! The more I think about it, the more I think of things that I want to do to it. Anyways... The truck is a Cardinal red 2016 GMC Sierra SLE 5.3L with the Z71 package. It came with 20" rims and a factory bedliner. I bought it in October 2016 and so far I have already done a few phases of the build. Phase 1 was dealer installed -Magnum RT side steps -Leveling kit -GM laser cut floor liners -Clear 3M bra on front Phase 2 came a week later -AVS low profile window visors -Bakflip MX4 tonneau cover -Drivers side UnderCover SwingCase Phase 3 began towards the end of November -MBRP Cat back dual exhaust (check out a video of it right after install, before the CAI install. I think it sounds great, not too obnoxious, but you can definitely hear it. )-AFE Magnum Force Pro Dry S intake kit Phase 4 (current) -Bakbox 2 (mail in rebate finally went through!) -Flush mount LEDs for rear bumper (have them, need to install) -vinyl wrap interior trim Hope to do soon: Black out bumpers and grille, black out or remove all other chrome on exterior. New wheels and rubber! Always looks nice with a bit of mud!
  10. Hey Guys, Just want to make a forum on my build! Shes slow, but a steady ongoing process. Always changing my mind on what to do with my truck. I bought it back in Sept, and I love it. Not a single problem that i've noticed. My dealership has worked on any and all recalls asap, and are pretty good at letting me know things. This is my 1st brand new truck, and quite the upgrade from a 99 Chev. I bought my truck with hail damage and got about $16,000 off I believe (can't remember sticker price). Wasn't sure if id like the Brownstone, but its grown on me - I like it a lot. Anyways heres the 3 pics I got from the dealership when I 1st bought it.
  11. Here we go. This is my first truck and my first build log. I plan to keep it updated and frequently reply to comments so your input is welcomed greatly! Just a month ago I purchased my first truck and i decided to go with the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali 6.2L. This build will be meticulous seeing that I want it to be and extremely clean build and possibly a quality show truck. Lets get to the stuff you guys want( The goods/build plans ): 7" Lift - Full Throttle Suspension or McGaughy's 20x12 -44 Fuel Mavericks 35" or 37" Toyo Open Country MT's LED Cubes Mounted in the Fog's Grille Mounted 30" lightbar Blacked Out Tailights Blacked Out Headlights with RGB Halos and DRL's Blacked Out Chrome ( Grille, Trim, ect.) Denali Engraved on the Blinker Roof Rack Tuner Air Intake Tint Exhaust If i ever have enough money - Supercharger I do get some shuttering in the steering wheel and see mostly when I'm cruising above 40mph. the RPM's jump up slightly when this occurs and i was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what this was or if GMC has fixed some of these problems because yes i have read a bunch of forums about such problems. Anything I have for build parts listed above feel free to make suggestions and even help me add to the list! I want to communities input on my build. Thanks so much! Here's a few pictures of it now!
  12. The Start of the build: I picked up a STOCK 2006 2500HD single cab 8ft bed for work/new project. I bought the truck for work and hauling toys around. After working my magic and shopping around i got it for 9k minus uncle sam getting his cut... I think it was a great deal compared to what i have seen around on craigs, ebay, dealers you know the routine, this thing was mint. Had 100,000 miles on the dot, but zero rust anywhere, not a rip, a tear, new tires, no lights, brakes were new, had a upgraded kenwood headunit so i slapped a 10" truck sub, and a 1600W amp and 4" door speakers i had lying around from my last truck, I MEAN THIS TRUCK WAS CLEAN!!! Now i hope this helps people with potentially finding a good suite for their truck or build because i have done a lot of builds from tuners, to imports, to trucks but this was my first LS build and im still waiting for the remainder of the parts. Once everything dropships i will be installing and posting the DYNO numbers. My tuner is a pro with LS motors and lets just say this thing is gonna be a NASTY auto work truck sleeper ALL NA haha. PARTS: LS3 Precision Race CNC Ported Heads Upgraded GM Valves .660 PRC/PAC dual spring kit with titanium retainers all milled to 229/236 Cam Texas Speed 229/236, .629/.615, 111LSA, Three bolt core Cam 7.40 Hardened Chromoly Pushrods LS6 Race billet single roller timing set, Z06 chain, 3 keyway sprocket, and 3 bolt cam Forged Wysco Pistons LS6 Ported oil pump ALL NEW SEALS AND GASKETS obviously YANK Pro 3200 Stall converter for 4L80E Custom Performance 1 3/4" Long tube headers 3" Performance Y pipe K&N Cold Air Upgraded Trans cooler, and 3.73 gears. Then Custom tune and Dyno Anyways, I will have all my parts i need to finish by 2/10.2016 she will be on the dyno 2 days after i get all the shit in. let me know what you guys think of the project and stay tuned, this "work" truck will knock your socks off. Cant upload pictures too big, pics are of the truck after Lift was done, more pics/Video of truck after work is done.

  14. I just took delivery of my 2016 Denali this week. I had to search for the spec sheet I wanted; this one is Onyx Black with black interior, short box and a 6.2L V8. What a truck! Not much to say about it right now since she's brand new but I have plenty of modifications I'll be making over time, and happy to answer any questions about it in the meantime. Some build items on my shorter term to-do list: Window Tint De-chrome (mirrors, door handles, trim) Remove running boards Leveling Kit Wheels/tires Eventually I'll be either blacking out the OEM grill or looking for an aftermarket one that I like. Will be sure to post updates as I have them, for now here's some shots of the truck after I took delivery. I also promise to use my actual camera vs. a potato for future photo shoots Cheers, J
  15. Hey so I have around 2000$ to play around with and I have a 2014 GMC sierra 4 wheel drive with the only thing put on it is a Rough Country 2 inch level and nitto trail grapplers. I have some idea's in what I want to do but I was wondering if any of you guys have any ideas for me. I'm looking for accessories outside of the truck not necessarily performance mods. I have a toolbox, 5% tint, and rhino lining in the bed. I'm looking for a more showy or buffer look on the truck. My idea is to get everything from Rough Country, but I'm open to other companies. What I have in mind is a 50 inch light bar w/ bracket, a chrome bull bar w/ 20 inch light bar, and some nfab running boards with the 3rd step for toolbox access (I have the 6'6 bed and I've seen them and they look great). If y'all have any ideas for me that'd be great! or if you think any of these clash. Thanks
  16. I purchased in mid-May and have quite a long list of mods to come. Below are before and after photos of my current process as well as a list of what I have planned. They provide pure bright white LED output for my daily fog and reverse lights and tons of extra work light when my cargos are activated. The flasher system is even smart enough to not allow any of the lights to flash when the factory/standard-use switch is active. 4) Mud Flap / Splash Guards (factory item) 5) LED Third Brake and Registration Lights SuperBrightLED Third Brake Light and Registration Lights installed (just bulb replacement - no photos) Future Plans Spyder U-Bar LED Projector Head Lamps VVME HID High and Low Beams Line-X black bedliner Slim Black Truck Box Black Tonneau Cover Black Front Chevy Badge Black Rims Tint
  17. Hey guys. I have a 2014 Chevy Silverado EcoTec3 5.3L Regular Cab and I want to build it to run decent track times. Decent meaning at least 11's. I don't really know much about the 5.3L and I would really like help on what should be done to run times like that. What cam? Intake? TB? Head swap maybe? Will even consider Turbos, supercharger, or a procharger. Also rear gears, will tranny hold up at the torque needed? Can I do this without messing with the bottom end at all? I'm open to anything and everything. The truck will not be driven on the street very much, I work 100+ hrs/wk but I'd find time to take it to the track. Thank you.
