  1. Has anyone tried this yet? I set up an appointment Friday to have the firmware in my stereo updated and will be ordering the 2.5 HMI module tonight to see if this actually works.
  2. On the 13.4in Infotainment screens has anyone heard or know of a way to get Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to take up the whole screen? Since GM is dictating what can and can't be full screen. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay can easily scale up so it's not a limitation on the phone software. You can download Apple and Google developer simulators that scale them up to ridiculous resolutions and aspect ratios. So clearly it's GM forcing the phone projection to only the middle screen, but they let the built-in Google Maps take up the whole screen. Since the trucks are using Android you can enable the built-in developer options, but none of the settings it unlocks do much. Even the usb debugging option doesn't connect to a computer unless there's a specific HMI usb port for it.
  3. Hey everybody, Just wanted to check in again and let you all know about another exciting service we're happy to be offering... The Denali Cluster Upgrade! Many of you have requested this upgrade and I'm happy to report we have successfully completed the mod. If you're interested in this, you'll need to know a few things. Acquire a new or used GMC Denali cluster. This can be a Sierra or a Yukon cluster. (Please note: If you buy your cluster 2nd hand, DO NOT plug it into your vehicle.) Diesel/Gas: The cluster will need to match some aspects of your current vehicle. For example, if you have a gas spec vehicle you'll need to find a cluster that has an RPM gauge that goes to 6000rpm. If you have a diesel spec vehicle (2500, 3500) you'll need to find a cluster that has an RPM gauge that goes to 5000rpm. Both shown below. MPH/KPH: We can do BOTH USA and Metric market clusters. If you live in the USA, you'll want to get a cluster that has a speedometer that goes up to 140. If you live in a metric country, you'll want a cluster that goes to 200. Both options shown below. COLOR: If you have a GMC and you want to keep your RED color theme, you'll want to find a 2016 GMC Denali cluster. If you have a Silverado, have done a blue conversion, or have upgraded your HMI to the newer blue theme and you're looking for a BLUE gauge theme, you'll want a 2017-2018 Denali cluster. Android Auto/Carplay: For all of you Android Auto users wanting the use of your volume and track selection flippers back, this fixes it!!! once installed you'll once again have access to your flippers. This also allows for the long press of the voice button on the steering wheel to activate Google Assistant as well as Siri for Apple Carplay. Year Matching: There has been a lot of talk that all modules that are installed into the vehicle need to be of the same year. After extensive testing we have found this to be mainly false. As long as the modules are of the same generation you should be A-OK for the install. That means if you have a 2.0 HMI vehicle (2014-2015) you can use a 2014-2015 Denali cluster. If you have a vehicle with a 2.5 HMI (Carplay Enabled, 2016-2018) you can use any 2016-2018 cluster so long as it matches your vehicle specs as mentioned above. And if you have a 2014-2015 and would like to upgrade to a blue themed cluster while adding Android Auto / Carplay, we are more than happy to facilitate the upgrade all at once. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or are interested in getting this mod done to your own vehicle. Thanks for watching and enjoy the demo.
  4. Hello everyone, I just purchased a used 2018 Chevy Silverado, After doing so research I found that the cup holders in this truck are not removable unlink its earlier models. I am looking for a way to hide the cable that is coming from the inside of the centre console to my phone, that sits in the little rubber holder but I want it to be clean and not have a wire just hanging all over. I have nothing online as to any sort of way to run that cable in such a way that it is hidden. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to accomplish this clean look? Thanks for any input SeekNDstroy2012
  5. I’ve been reading up on how to upgrade my infotainment center to include Apple CarPlay, but I’m wondering if any of you can tell me the exact parts I need to purchase. I have a 2015 Yukon. I know I need the IO6 2.5 HMI module, but I’m not sure what part number. I have found multiple different ones on eBay that look just like what I need, but they each have different part numbers. I’m not sure if they are all interchangeable. Also, do I need a new radio module and USB port for this to work?
  6. New to this forum, so please excuse my ignorance if this has already been answered. I looked to see if there were answers elsewhere, but haven't found them to all of my questions. I recently purchased a 2015 Suburban LTZ and would like to add CarPlay primarily. My questions are: 1. My truck was built 3/24/15. I have seen conflicting reports that I can just replace the HMI module (upgrade from 2.0 to 2.5) vs also having to replace the box under the center console. There was some discussion that later build dates can get away with not replacing the other module. My truck does have the Text option on the MyLink screen if that helps any. Are there particular part numbers I need to retain use of the Rear seat entertainment system or do all the boxes work with it too? 2. Since new modules require programming is this something the dealer can do without a lot of hassle (i.e. I am adding a non-original part number to my truck. are they going to give me crap about it)? Also, are there aftermarket tools that I can use to do this? I don't have anything like that, but if I have to go pay the dealer $150 for them to program my box, I would consider just buying a scan tool system for future use 3. As I mentioned, my truck has the rear seat entertainment system. Are there options for adding HDMI or other inputs for this system? Not sure my family will ever use it in its current config (we do almost all streaming these days). i have seen screen mirroring solutions, but my understanding is they only allow mirroring on the dash screen and not the RSE screens. Any options there? Any help is greatly appreciated.
  7. Hello All, I just bought 2017 sierra with the 7 inch touchscreen that advertisted as compatible with apple Carplay and Android auto. For whatever reason myself, the dealer, and the GM infotainment support can't figure out why it isn't working with apple. We can get the radio to work with Android Auto and connects right away as it should so I think that confirms that the USB port is not faulty and is correctly transferring data. I am using an Iphone 8 IOS ver 12.4 with the factory cable in good condition(no fraying of the cable) and have confirmed that the phone cable combination works in my girlfriends 2017 Chevy Cruze. We have also tried it with different cable combinations and different IPhones. Occasionally when an Iphone is plugged into it a message will appear on the radio saying "Playback Source is not available" and I have attached a picture of the message. Just a quick rundown of things I have tried to help with troubleshooting: Made sure that the Apple Carplay is on in the settings of the radio. Double checked that "press home for Siri is enabled" Double checked that the screen time settings weren't preventing carplay from working forgot phone in bluetooth settings and re-paired it. factory reset of radio tried different Iphones (IPhone 6, IPhone 8, IPhone XR, IPhone XS) tried different cables (and confirmed they all worked in the 2017 Chevy Cruze) Made sure the phones worked with Apple Carplay in the 2017 Cruze. tried all USB ports in the truck. Appreciate all the help Jacob
  8. See a lot of questions asked about this and not a lot of set info on the upgrade. Hope this helps even anyone trying to set it up. **READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND WATCH ALL VIDEOS PRIOR TO ATTEMPTING PURCHASING OR INSTALLATION** Apple CarPlay / Android Auto functionality is not supported in any 2014-2015 (Many 2016) Silverado/Sierra’s. This is due to neither application being available from Google or Apple when these vehicles being built, therefore not an available option during these model years. The following instructions are designed to simplify the process as much as possible. Three things are required for this upgrade (ONE) Radio Module, (ONE) HMI Module, and (ONE) USB Hub 2016+. Search around for the modules, they are available for purchase from many different locations. EBay, totaled vehicles, junkyards, or other various websites to find them. AGAIN, if the part numbers are not listed below DO NOT purchase them. It is highly encouraged to not try and cut corners with purchasing part numbers of modules not listed as they cannot be flashed to work properly. **DISCONNECT THE BATTERY PRIOR TO INSTALLING FRESHLY UPDATED MODULES** TOOLS REQUIRED: Trim Removal tool 10 mm Socket 7 mm Socket PARTS REQUIRED USB HUB P/N 13519224 (BLACK) P/N 13509943 (WHITE) HMI Module USE ONE OF THE BELOW P/N’S IF YOUR TRUCK CAME FROM THE FACTORY WITH NAVIGATION. ONLY REQUIRED TO PURCHASE ONE P/N. 13506387 23402909 84062056 84293243 Once acquiring the parts you can now send them to be flashed. These modules will be flashed to your VIN and will then be plug and play. Copy the link and follow the prompts. http://www.whiteautoandmedia.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=98&category_id=44&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=54 If you have followed all the directions up and to this point, select yes for hardware match. You can chose if you would like the maps updated on your NAV if you so choose. You will be emailed your order number from WAMS, this is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. You will be required to ship your parts either FedEx or UPS, they will not accept packages from USPS. You will need to write your order number on the box to ensure your order is properly handled. Turn around is approximately one week from shipment to return. ONLY ship your (ONE) Radio Module and (ONE) HMI Module. Maintain your USB Hub. Once you have received your parts from WAMS you can begin installation. Disconnect your battery prior to installation. To install the radio module watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2MYuuyqLrs. For the purpose of this install start the video at 1:00. Stop the video at 2:04, the radio module is visible with a green connector on the far left. Simply begin disconnecting all of the connectors plugged into the module, once all are removed you can slide the module out of the dash. It is retained only by the tension of the cables plugged into it. Replace with your new module, you can now continue the video and finish putting the dash back together. Stop the video at 4:10. To install the HMI Module watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFe2gwlOsD4. Stop the video at 2:00. The module being described behind the crossbar is what you are replacing. Remove all connectors, the module is retained with a plastic clip on top. Installing the module along with the glove box, is self explanatory. Take note of the plastic tabs on the sides of the USB Hub you are preparing to install. Those tabs can be depressed with a dental pick and gradually removed out of place. Once removed, disconnect the harness and reconnect. Installation is now complete. You can now reconnect your battery and start your vehicle. Initial start up might take a few seconds to initialize, and temperature defaulting to 32 degrees is normal. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay require hardwire connection, so to test functionality it needs to be connected to the newly installed USB hub. MVI Inc (https://www.gm-navigation.com/) offers kits and other customization options if the above is not something you feel comfortable acquiring on your own. Hope this helps, should be pretty cut and dry. There might be other methods, but this was the cheapest I discovered. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.
  9. Can anyone tell me if the new 2020 (or older) YukonXL, does the Apple Carplay cast Google Maps onto the screen? I've read that it only plays with Apple Maps. thx
  10. First time poster. Have a 19 Trail Boss LT and when connected to CarPlay get a notice that says “access to contacts limited” but I can see my contacts behind the notice. Then randomly it will work and I have access to my contacts. I have attached a picture of what I see. Anyone else experienced this? I have used multiple cables and it occurs on different phones.
  11. I downloaded Apple IOS 13 beta, the good news CarPlay for Spotify is much improved it now shows album covers, kind of cool. The bad news even with the 805 update and IOS 13 it still turns down the ringer to zero if you have adjust with buttons turned on. It also still changes the volume control. I now wonder if this is a GM problem or an Apple problem. I hope someone fixes it, I just almost missed a very important call.
  12. I wanted to let everyone know about a new product we are now offering for the I0B work truck vehicles. We can now offer a navigation solution to these vehicles and at the same time give you the ability to add more camera functionality and HDMI input for video solutions. This particular vehicle has been somewhat ignored by most manufactures out there as far as solutions go, but I think you find this one to be pretty slick. What I have really noticed about the I0B system is that the screen resolution and clarity is WAY better than the 8" touchscreen (in my opinion). This not only opens up a whole world of new opportunity for the I03 trucks, but it now gives the current I0B user more possibility. I'm eager to get some feed back and what everyone's thoughts are on this. As usual, I wont be in here a ton, but I will make a point to try and check in at least once a day for a while to participate and answer questions. This first video was made kind of on the fly and with very little time, however it does show the new pieces capability's. I'm really hoping to get a more detailed video put together in the next couple weeks showing more. As always...please feel free to TEXT me with any questions. 919-995-9523
  13. Having issues with booth the Carplay function and Buetooth software in 2016 Silverado Z71. Started with the Carplay function no longer connecting. The carplay app no longer shows on the MyLink display screen nor does the vehicle mylink connection show on the iphone 8 plus device. The phone does an endless search for a vehicle with carplay.. Have tried new IOS USB cable and still no connection. The voice activation feature works when connected but only for phone calls. No other media or apps within the iphone show on the Mylink display screen. Then the automatic bluetooth concection stopped. Once the bluetooth automatic connection stopped all music and other media source from the iphone stopped.. I can manually delete the bluetooth connection and manually connect each time i enter and start the vehicle. There is on iphone option as a media choice on the menu with in the MyLink system. I have been to the dealer twice and they tell me its my iphone with out checking the mylink softwared or checking of updates. I have reset and disconnected all mylink features and bluetooth connections in the Iphone. i have done a network reset on the iphone. I have reset or rebooted everything I can with in the iphon except for a hard reset which will completely reset the iphone back to original settings. I have been to the Apple store and had them double check if there is any issues with the Iphone. All software is up to date there are no restrictions set on the iphone side. I have searched the internet for nay issues with Iphone and MyLink software. There have been some connectioning issues since the last IOS 12 update, I have done everything suggested to resolve these issues to no avial. It has to be an issue with the MyLink software. Was hoping someone has a solution or suggestion before returning to the dealership.
  14. I have a 2015 GMC Sierra Denali 1500. The truck has factory installed radio, navigation, touch screen etc. I am told I already have the I06 module, so why don't I have carplay? And why do I have to buy another I06 to add carplay? can't I just do a software update?
  15. Chevy's new 8-speed transmission for up-level trims and LED lighting are among the biggest news. HID headlights standard on WT trims, and LED headlights for High Country also are surprising. 16. Apple's CarPlay and Google's Android Auto is software that allows certain functions and apps from a driver's smartphone to be projected and controlled from a vehicle's in dash infotainment system. Both of Chevrolet's infotainment systems will work with CarPlay and Android Auto for 2016. The 7-inch system will work with both standards at the start of production while Chevrolet will offer owners of the 8-inch systems the ability to upgrade later in the year. The 8-inch system will only be compatible with CarPlay at the start of production and will gain Android Auto compatibility with the update. Unfortunately for current owners, 2015 and earlier system cannot be upgraded and will never work with CarPlay and Android Auto. That said, don't worry. We'd have to imagine that aftermarket upgrade options will be in hot demand for this new bit of tech. We also expect a similar announcement from GMC in the near future. Stay tuned! 2016 Chevrolet Models that will be compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto 7-inch MyLink Spark Cruze Malibu Camaro Silverado Silverado HD 8-inch MyLink Cruze Malibu Impala Volt Camaro Corvette Colorado Silverado Silverado HD Tahoe Suburban
