What do you mean.... "Should" Beer Be A Food Group?

I thought it had "ALWAYS" been part of a well balanced diet.. :nono::cool:

It has barley, which is a cereal grain.

Cereal is good for you.

It has water to keep you hydrated in hot weather.

Thats a good thing.

It has alcohol for antifreeze in cold weather.

Thats a good thing.

I don't understand the point of this poll, since here in Texas, it is just common knowledge that it "IS" :):)

Yes Beer should be a food group but I might add that there are more than just beer lovers on this forum. There are some of us out here that also like to partake of a little "Pale Ale" from time to time. And a nice cold stout made from roasted barley and malt (Guinness comes to mind) is lovely on a hot summer day (or a cold winter night for that matter). I have even been known to venture into the home made brew section of the local winemakers shop.

So if Beer is a food group, then all the rest of the brewed beverages should amount to a very well balanced diet after all. Although balance may not be right choice of words. Our Canadian beers and ales have a bit more bite to them than your standard American brew. :wtf:

Cheers,
