I have a 2009 Sierra with the bose system. Has anyone just replace their door speakers only and kept the bose amp, sub, and tweeters. I was wondering if this would improve sound quality or not? I think most of these stock bose speakers are tweeked for the bose amp. Would this affect aftermarket speakers?

I have an '04 Silverado with the Bose system. I recently replaced the door speakers and it did make a nice difference. You'll find the sub still isn't strong enough. The improved sound just made me want more, so I ended up replacing the head unit and adding a sub and amp. I also pulled up the carpet and added sound deadener (Fatmat).

 

I'm very happy with the result; sounds great.

I would think if you used a speaker with the same/similar freq range and response as the originals it would be fine. You might not be able to find that information though. You may just have to swag it based on other consumer similar Bose speakers, since the OEM speakers were contract built for GM. I doubt there''s anything special about them. If in doubt, I'd call Crutchfield as they seem to have good information. Then I'd buy from them if I used their advise...just cause it's the right thing to do.

My understanding was, at least in the past, that the reason Bose speakers couldn't be replaced without also changing HU and amp was that the signal impedence (measured in ohms) is different in the Bose system than in a standard speaker system. Is that still the case? I honestly don't know anymore....

i just swapped out my bose speakers and put in some kicker ks and it sounds great now i really need a sub...

all that crap about bose, you cant even notice there is a sub there. even with bass turned all the way up. its really sad. what is it like a 4 inch sub? i mean come on gm, is that all youve got?

the sub is crapy but am thinking of taking it out and puting a 8in in its place and putting 2 12in the back
