Oil Pressure

Is it normal to have to for the truck to say low oil pressure on start up right after an oil change. I didnt notice it last time, and this is only the second time i have changed the oil on this truck

 

2005 5.3.

 

I just assumed that it was because i just filled it and there was no oil in the lines.

Do you fill the filter before you put it on?? I have always done this, unless of course if cannot be put on full without spilling.

i never thought of doing that. I think its fine. I started the truck again and made a trip to the store and there were no issues. never can be too sure though. Im not liking the position of the filter. right on the side of the oil pan and above a cross member.
