Mud Flaps...

I picked up some mud flaps today for all four corners. The saleman told me they screwed through existing holes around the wheel well but whe I got home and unboxed them the directions say to drill about five holes per flap(in the flange around the wheel well). That just sounds like I'm asking for a rust problem? Do all brands attach this way? How do the GM brand ones attach? I think thede are Huskey brand. If I do drill how should I treat the holes to prevent them from rusting?

Thanks for any advise you can give.

after you drill I would put a few coats of a good rust preventative enamel paint on. Then, when putting on the mud flaps I would put some silicone around/in each hole that'll help seal out moisture

I agree ... Some silicone or any rubberized bonding agent will do. They are just small holes. Just just make a small Pilot hole and then use a slightly bigger Self-Tapping screw for a tighter fit.
