Navigation Radio Issue

Has anyone had an issue with their navigation radio in their NBS truck or any GM car for that matter, moving the maps in an incorrect direction? My Nav is all messed up. The little triangle on the map is sometimes backwards, goes sideways, or is off the streets completely. I am wondering if the Nav needs an update from the dealer. Anyone else experience this?

Ha ha, sounds like you have your map in the North Up mode. I just got a nav unit for my wife's suv and I think if you tap on the arrow in the upper corner it will cycle through the different modes for you. If not its an option somewhere. Did you replace your trucks battery anytime recently?

 

Got a chance to look at my wife's nav unit. Tap the N arrow icon at the top left corner to cycle through the different map view modes Good luck!

yes 08 gmc 2500 Ive been through rivers lakes on nav... sometimes its just lost... dealer can never duplicate.. let me know if you get a fix

question:

 

 

in the upper left of the Map screen, do you have the letters GPS with a RED hash line thru it?

 

if you do it means the unit hasn't locked a signal on at least 3 GPS satellites and it can't triangulate your position.

 

you can check for how many satellites it is talking to by doing this:

 

Press MENU on the hard buttons.

Press DISPLAY on the touch screen

Press the lower left of the touch screen for 10 seconds.

 

you will get a number pad asking for a PIN number:

 

Enter the number 295660

and press the OK button..

you are now in the diagnostic menu.. from here there is a GPS info button that will tell you how many satellites you are locked into.. if less than 3 then the vehicle is using last known position, speed and an internal Gyro to approximate the movement of the vehicle on the screen.

 

 

going through the menus there is also an option to RESET your current position, at which point you have to find the street you are on (I suggest zooming completely out to the full US map view, them moving and zooming in, as once you RESET the position it will take you back to the default location which appears to be Washington DC).

 

once you find your exact street and position, you then need to set your direction, make sure you know which direction you are facing, I suggest facing north, as that is the default setting.

 

save the new position setting, exit all the way out of the diagnostic screen, then you need to go to MENU, NAVIGATION, MAP INFORMATION, and set your current Zone as it will think you are in Washington DC, so attempting to plot a destination will result in DC information and routing.

Thanks old chevy dude yes I get the gps with red line alot... even told that to service... I'll have to try your reset that you posted.
