Code?

On my 1999 1500 4x4 chevy 5.7 vortec i am getting a code 1631 and my truck will start and run about 3 seconds and die and my security light flashes off and on now also. Any suggestions on what to do to fix this problem?

Did you perform the relearn of the security system and it worked fine after the three attempts?

I had this issue with a 99s10. A mechanic once told me that It may be a worn out key that could cause this. The system may think that its the wrong key if its to worn out.

Yep reprogramed and the truck started run normal. Last night my light come on again. Can i give a dealer my vin and get a key made?

I actually had to bring in proof of ownership of the vehicle (title or registration) to have a key cut without a template for one of my 96 Blazers, but it can be done.
