Which Muffler?

I am trying to decide between a Corsa Db muffler and a Magnaflow muffler. It would be an easy decision if the Corsa muffler was available in a 3in inlet and outlet configuration, but the Corsa is only available in 2.5. Would this 2.5in configuration negatively affect the performance at all? I want to squeeze as much power as I possibly can out of this 5.3 with simple additions such as exhaust and a tune. I prefer the sound of the Corsa, but don't want any negative performance impacts because of this choice. Thanks guys.

The Corsas are straight through designs so the smaller inlet/outlet doesn't hurt performance.

From a performance standpoint, would I be better off with the Magnaflow or the Corsa? I understand that both are straight through designs, but I would think I would be better off with the Magnaflow because of the smaller inlet/outlet of the Corsa. What do you guys think?

its not a significant difference that your going to feel with the "seat of the pants" meter. so go with which one you prefer sound wise.

I agree. go with what you thinks sounds better. There is probably no performance difference at all between any of the straight through design mufflers.

Is there any information out there showing *any* performance increase with simply substituting an aftermarket muffler for the OEM? I have always *thought* I felt an increase responsiveness, but I sometimes get the feeling it's my imagination at work. But looking at the enormous size of the OEM muffler on GM trucks, it is hard for me to imagine there isn't something going on besides nice throaty sound improvement. This would be helpful information for me. I could have something to say to my wife, who shows a smarty pants knowing little grin when I mention my muffler buying intentions. . . .
